6 U.S. soldiers killed in Afghan battle

By JASON STRAZIUSO, Associated Press Writer
1 hour, 8 minutes ago

KABUL, Afghanistan - Six U.S. troops and three Afghan soldiers died when insurgents ambushed their foot patrol in eastern Afghanistan, one of the deadliest attacks on American forces this year, officials said Saturday.

The troops were returning from a meeting with village elders Friday afternoon in Nuristan province when militants attacked them with rocket propelled grenades and gunfire, said Lt. Col. David Accetta.

"They were attacked from several enemy positions at the same time," said Accetta, a spokesman for NATO's International Security Assistance Force and the U.S. military. "It was a complex ambush."

Eight more Americans and 11 Afghans were wounded. The 14 total U.S. casualties was the highest number of wounded and killed from a battle in Afghanistan this year, Accetta said.

59 schoolchildren died in Afghan blast By FISNIK ABRASHI, Associated Press Writer
Fri Nov 9, 4:07 AM ET

KABUL, Afghanistan - Afghanistan's deadliest suicide attack since the Taliban regime's ouster killed 59 schoolchildren, while 96 other students were wounded in the blast, the Education Ministry spokesman said Friday.

The attack in the northern province of Baghlan on Tuesday killed at least 75 people. The dead children were ages eight to 18, said Zahoor Afghan, an Education Ministry spokesman.

Five teachers were also among those killed in the attack, the worst in the country since the 2001 U.S.-led invasion toppled the Taliban militant movement from power. Six lawmakers also died.

The death toll among children was released as violence continued in the beleaguered country. NATO-led troops and Afghan forces captured a remote district in western Afghanistan, as militants ambushed and killed a district chief in the volatile south, officials said.

"You can rest easy, proles*, knowing that -- once again -- I am no where near the danger zone. I have taken special 'kick back and relax" precautions to protect my Precious Connecticut Preppy Butt (as always), so that I will be in Top Shape to help my republicon homelander chickenhawk cronies count up their war profits. And on the bright side, our Afghan proppy and heroin production numbers are WAY up this year. Smirk, smirk, smirk.

"Oh yeah, almost forgot my republicon homelander propaganda talking point: 'too bad about all the dead soldiers and stuff.'"

9. Well, it couldn't have been the Taliban.
Bush said the Taliban was destroyed.

"The Taliban is no more, and the people of Afghanistan are free, thanks to America and our friends and allies." (Applause.)

10. Interview with 2 Captured Foreign Militant Jihadists....Afghanistan (NYT sits in on interrogation)
NYTimes reporters cover this video story;

http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=93c_1194509507

Won't be seeing that story getting air time anywhere by the dinosaur media
as the silent war across the border spreads into the civilized areas of Pakistan, unreported, ignored by most editors it seems.

I'd say the MSM should hang it up and get out of the news business. They are going broke pandering to advertisers imo

After all they supplied and funded the jihadist guerillas against the soviets in Afganistan but now the monster they helped breed is eating their children.
Can our government establishment think at least 2 years ahead about the consequences of their actions?
