US military officials considered whether to show photographs of the bodies of Saddam Hussein's two sons, Uday and Qusay, an official said.

"They're probably gruesome but we have to show it," to convince the Iraqi people that the two feared men are in fact dead the official said.

1. Adobe Photoshop.

Iraqis must have or be familiar with Photoshop. Why would photographs convince them?

Edit: We've already seen photoshopped photographs that were taken in Iraq.

2. Huh?--"not aware we will have any photographs of the bodies."
Terry Mitchell, a defense official responsible for Pentagon (news - web sites) visuals, said the issue was being discussed but he was "not aware we will have any photographs of the bodies."

3. Rummie's still trying to figure out
how to merge layers and to use an airbrush tool.

Give the guy a break, he's almost 80 years old.

4. Well, what the fuck are they waiting for?
Enough teasers already. I've always wanted to see what 10 TOW missles do to people.

6. Wasn't there just a report...
...saying that the bodies were too "shot up" to identify. What would be the point of photographs then?

9. Why kill them if they could provide intel on WMDs?
Edited on Wed Jul-23-03 04:17 PM by Outvoicer
It seems blatantly political to me that the Adminstration is more interested in scoring points than finding out needed information.

By immediately targeting Saddam's sons for assassination, the Bush administration automatically denies itself two very wealthy sources of information regarding WMDs.

Hmmm.

Why not surround them a la Manuel Noriega until they can be captured alive.

Clearly, this administration is more interested in theatrics - "We killed the bad guys" - than in finding WMDs.
