The office of Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) on Thursday denied an internet rumor suggesting that Rep. Pelosi would pursue an impeachment measure against Vice President Dick Cheney should she receive 10,000 handwritten letters in favor of the measure.

"The Office of the Speaker denies it," a Pelosi source told RAW STORY.

The rumor has quickly taken hold at other blogs and websites, including the popular Democratic Underground.

"Today 'there’s rumors on the Internets'...that Pelosi will reconsider her no-impeachment stance – IF – she receives 10,000 HAND WRITTEN letters supporting the impeachment of Dick Cheney," read one DU post on Tuesday."So, if you really want to see Congress – especially the Democrats – start acting like the co-equal branch of Government that they were intended to be – PLEASE write to Pelosi today."

Although untrue, Swanson adds that the hearsay was still beneficial to the cause of those advocating for the impeachment of Cheney.

"It's one of these false rumors that's actually very helpful," he added. "There's a burst of people sending and that's good"

I also know of campaigns to send paper plates, properly stamped and addressed, to Mme. Speaker: "Nancy, SET THE TABLE!!! IMPEACHMENT NOW!!!!" The post office will deliver anything that's properly stamped. Something like this would be gimmicky and get lots of attention, generating lots of talk! Also it is not a possible carrier of WMD "Cannot have powder on the plate!"

It won't move her to impeach him.

If she needs 10,000 letters to figure out HOW bad Cheney is, WHY he should be impeached, and HOW we feel, then she exactly NOT doing the job we elected her for.

You can waste your hot air sending her letters but it won't work. she should ALREADY have figured out that cheney and George Bush need to be removed from office.

If she doesn't know that, she doesn't belong in the position of our highest democratic representative. She has proven that she doesn't.

The only thing to write her at this point is a call for her resignation.

It makes us look like unthinking monkeys. We should not need a false rumor to get motivated to send Pelosi a letter about impeachment or any other important issue.

A good question is EXACTLY HOW MANY hand-written letters, paper plates and postcards would Ms Speaker have to receive from CITIZENS to carry out her CONSTITUTIONAL MANDATE and call for the IMPEACHMENT of these criminals who have done us WORLDWIDE so much harm while spitting in the face of EVERYONE???

Indict. Impeach. Imprison.

I would suggest paper plates be sent by the truckload to Cindy. Individual, handwritten, decorated (see postal restrictions), PROPERLY STAMPED with "Please forward by hand" written around the edge. She will surely document them to make certain each one is counted. Were I her, on delivery I would ever so politely ask, "How much more horseshit do you intend to pile upon these plates?"

THIS is the SHIT Madame Speaker has, thus far, been piling on our plates.

A million... Hmmm, a third of "We the People" in this computer age taking the time and spending the money to send a handwritten note to someone IN OUR FARKIN' EMPLOY, demanding she represent OUR INTERESTS, ya think THAT might get her attention? :shrug:

Suggestions:

If you prefer letters, DO NOT PUT THEM IN AN ENVELOPE. Fold the sheet in thirds and seal with tape, a sticker or sealing wax. :evilgrin:

What I really mean is, WHAT will it take? :shrug:

(Reuters 11-18-2007)House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will call for a censure resolution when the House returns from their Thanksgiving break. Pelosi spokesperson Ann Fletcher said, "Speaker Pelosi is disgusted with the populist movement to impeach our distinguished Vice President. This will not stand. We will censure every single letter writer. That is a promise."

Speaker Pelosi has hired Choicepoint to create a database of the (Cheney impeachment) letter writers. After the database is completed and shared with the Department of Homeland Security she will call for a formal censure resolution. High ranking House sources say she knows she can't read every name on the floor but she will pick a few names to make her point. This afternoon Pelosi called Vice President Cheney to apologize for the letters and made it clear that she supports the Vice President 100%.
