Katonah's Saul drops out of 19th Congressional District race (John Hall's seat)
Source: The Journal News

WASHINGTON - In a major setback for Hudson Valley Republicans, businessman Andrew Saul of Katonah announced yesterday that he is ending his campaign for Congress for unspecified personal reasons.

...snip...

Saul, vice chairman of the Metropolitan Transit Authority, has come under fire recently for not attending the agency's public hearings on fare increases.

A New York Times article over the weekend disclosed that some of Saul's campaign contributors were involved in bidding for MTA projects, in apparent violation of state ethics rules.

Saul's decision leaves Republicans "back at square one" with prospects that are "much more iffy, if not downright gloomy," (Stuart) Rothenberg said.

3. Coincidently......
About 3000 Federal Employees are irritated as hell about his proposed changes to our 401K plans (Thrift Savings Plan). This was news, to us, published just the day before yesterday in the Federal Times. Andrew Saul was appointed by Bush as the Executive Director of the TSP Board. The changes make no sense based on the reasons he gives and will ultimately put us back in the dark ages as far as trading within our accounts. The 3000 were just trading in their accounts, too much for Mr. Saul, even though Federal Regs allow us to do daily trades. We're all suppose to get letters telling us to stop next month, and then they will change the CFRs by spring to limit to 2 trades per month.

I wonder, on our web board dedicated to the TSP, his campaign office number was noted. Was there something illicit going on here too?? We were definitely discussing his actions as Board Member of MTA, but not about fare increases. He had allowed some controversial development to go through and some of his major campaign contributors were bidding on the development. After researching FEC filings, it was pretty easy to see the man is a man amongst millionaires. More than 1/2 of his maxed out campaign contributors were "Investors" with Park Avenue addresses. Also, our funds are administered by outside contractors, so I was researching any connections.
