Three arrested in Natalee Holloway case
Source: CNN

(CNN) -- Authorities have re-arrested three men in connection with the disappearance of an Alabama teenager in Aruba in 2005, based on new evidence in the case, prosecutors announced Wednesday.

Brothers Deepak and Satish Kalpoe were arrested in Aruba at the same time authorities in the Netherlands picked up Joran Van der Sloot at the request of the Aruban government, the statement said. Van der Sloot is attending school in Holland.

The three had previously been arrested in 2005, Aruban prosecutors noted in a statement, but a court released them, citing insufficient evidence.

They are now charged with "involvement in the voluntary manslaughter of Natalee Holloway or causing serious bodily harm to Natalee Holloway, resulting in her death," the statement said.

2. Well, the girl is dead. If these guys did it, it's good they'll answer for it.
It's news. The case was pretty well publicized.

9. Indeed. This one is, though. So what?
Because any girls death anywhere isn't as publicized as this one means we should.... what?

12. Not news -- there were 17,034 persons murdered in the US in 2006
From the FBI crime report --

"An estimated 17,034 persons were murdered nationwide in 2006, an increase of 1.8 percent from the 2005 estimate."

The murder of any single individual is a quite frequent and ordinary event. It happens about once per day per state on average.

16. News is what people *are* interested in, not what someone thinks they *should* be interested in
We each have our judgments.

7. New evidence brings arrests in teen's Aruba disappearance
Source: CNN

CNN) -- Authorities have re-arrested three men in connection with the disappearance of an Alabama teenager in Aruba in 2005, based on new evidence in the case, prosecutors announced Wednesday.
Natalee Holloway disappeared while on an Aruba vacation in 2005.

Watch interview with Holloway's father »

Van der Sloot, now 20, and the Kalpoes, now ages 24 and 21, were the last people seen with Holloway, 18, as she left Carlos n' Charlie's nightclub in Oranjestad, Aruba, about 1:30 a.m. on May 30, 2005. All three men have maintained their innocence in her disappearance.

13. You know what really pisses me off is her mother and step-father were
making such a stink about what a poor job the authorities were doing. More of the ugly-American syndrome. Have you heard them say thanks to the authorities? Not a peep.

That way her family can have some peace. Not knowing what happened must be sheer hell. Personally, I think she drowned accidentally.

Also, this case can finally be put to rest so we never have to hear about it ever again.

15. I am sorry for her family, but
I am sorry for her family, but how many young girls go missing everyday and do not have the wealth to even begin a search?

I hate to see this on any headline news station, is this really of importance in the realm of the big picture? I really hate to even
see it posted here. Isn't it covered enough on the major "news" networks.? :rant:

17.  2 suspects to be freed in Holloway case
<snip>

"Two brothers re-arrested last week as suspects in the disappearance of American teenager Natalee Holloway will be released from jail, a prosecutor said Friday.

The two brothers, Satish and Deepak Kalpoe, will be released by Saturday, prosecutor Dop Kruimel said.

"We have three days to launch an appeal, but we have to think about it," Kruimel said."

<snip>

"Their release will mark the third time that the brothers have been arrested and later released in the case. Both have denied having any role in her disappearance.

They and a third suspect who remains in jail, Joran van der Sloot, were the last known people to see Holloway alive before she vanished on May 30, 2005, hours before she was scheduled to return home to Alabama with fellow high school classmates celebrating their graduation. She was 18 at the time.

The three suspects were re-arrested on Nov. 21 on suspicion of involvement in Holloway's death. Authorities said they had "new incriminating evidence, but defense attorneys had complained that the new material amounted to little more than misunderstandings in the suspects' recorded conversations."
