Gore meets Bush, declares it 'cordial... substantive'
Source: ChicagoTrib Swamp Politics Blog

<snip>

In his private Oval Office meeting with President Bush, the former vice president insisted that they had spoken about global warming "the whole time.'' It wasn't clear if the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, who shared the honor for his work on climtate change, was serious.

"Of course,'' they had spoken about global warming, Gore said, strolling down a rain-slick Pennsylvania Avenue with wife Tipper Gore after a private session with the president. For Gore, who had gone into the White House for a reception for the American winners of the 2007 Nobel Prizes, this was his first return to the Oval Office since leaving office.

But Gore, calling the meeting with Bush "very cordial'' and "substantive,'' declined to elaborate on their meeting. "I'm not going to do an interview here,'' Gore said in his walk down the streets outside the White House. "I don't want to comment more.''

...

The White House insists the president holds no ill will toward Gore, who carried his challenge of the outcome of the 2000 election to the Supreme Court.

“I don’t believe so,’’ Bush Press Secretary Dana Perino said of any “bad blood’’ between the two. “I know this president does not harbor any resentments. He never has.’’

9. I know. That statement could give you a case of ironic whiplash (if you
can picture such a thing).

I wish Dana should just shut up. I cannot understand how this clown keeps finding these robotic, vapid, duplicitous, women. From his wife and Karen all the way down to the current creature that comes out and lies for him. I gotta say, even though you knew that bush**s other press secretary's were lying their asses off at least they tried to carry it off with some panache. Dana is one of those women (like Laura) that can almoust make you feel bad about laughing at 'em. They're just so pitiful.

7. The lawsuit was Bush v. Gore, not Gore v. Bush. It was Jr. who dragged the Supremes into it.
Just a nitpick that annoyed me. The piece makes it sound like Bush was dubbed the rightful winner and Gore challenged the results, and that's not the way things went down. The vote counts in Florida were close enough to require a mandatory recount, and before that recount could be completed, Bush sued to stop it.

Who dragged it to the Supreme Court......Not only do they make it sound like a bad thing but also implied it was Gore that did it.

8. Once again Gore proves he is a class act.
It's far more effective to be nice in front of enemies. Both of them know Bush is the villain. It's been established. Bush looks the buffoon and always will. There's no need for a fight. Gore IS THE WINNER and always will be!

10. Who in the hell is Gore trying to fool???
Edited on Mon Nov-26-07 05:20 PM by BornagainDUer
This is why I have never liked Gore. Why in the fuck talk to this psycho? How are you "cordial" and "substantitive" with a mass murdering coke addlebrained asshole that turned this country into a fascist dictatorship. What could possibly be Gores intention? Gore is leading us to beleive that something civil can be discussed like Neville Chamberlain saying all was well with Hitler.

Who in the hell is Gore trying to fool and why????

13. He went into the belly of the beast
I wonder how Mr. Gore truly felt having to stand next to that lying war criminal. I can guess. And a 40 minute private talk about climate change? Bush wouldn't even see An Inconvenient Truth and his people now want us to believe there is no longer any acrimony? I do suspect Mr. Gore did that because he knows we cannot wait beyond 2009 to sign the Kyoto Treaty and to work for its successor thus showing that this crisis does take precedence over everything else. So I am sure that now that we know there are no hard feelings, Bush won't mind signing the treaty now as we are the only country now to not do so. Yeah, right. But I have to give points to Mr. Gore for going there. He once again showed what class is all about.

18. I, for one, am sorry that Gore had that meeting with Bush. If Bush wants to learn about
global warming, let him read a book or watch a DVD. It took the occasion of Gore winning
a Nobel Prize for Bush to converse with him and benefit from his expertise? Screw that imbecile, Bush.
I don't know why Gore dignified him with a personal meeting - with Bush sitting on the wrong side of the desk.
Does he think Bush will become enlightened after their little tete-a-tete? That's about as likely as Barbara Bush
announcing that she's taking up gymnastics.

21. Only if you recklessly pollute or own an oil company.
Or perhaps if you're one of those wealthy "heiresses" the bush library campaign once claimed it would be soliciting for donations.

Or one more thing - if you're his backstage girl, contradicta.

23. gore is too kind.
how can any meeting with bush be substantive, or cordial, when, first of all the man is an empty brain in an empty suit, and secondly, how can any meeting with bush be cordial when he ignites the passionate anger of everyone i know ... and how can his presence not ignite to the point of incineration the anger of the man from who he stole the elections, the oval office, the honest to goodness presidency of the united states of america ..... bush and dana perrino have the ability to step on everyone's last one good nerve! Gore is kind, too kind!

"Gore, who carried his challenge of the outcome of the 2000 election to the Supreme Court."

It was the Republicans who took the election to the Supreme Court.

27. The fact that Gore could walk from the White House
through the gates and onto the city streets, fearlessly, leaving *, a prisoner in his own bubble is a statement unto itself. He didn't need to steal away, hidden from the public in a darkened limo.
