A federal court employee whose allegations of sexual misconduct led to the suspension of a federal judge has asked the Judicial Council of the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to consider harsher punishment in the case, her attorney said.
Attorney Rusty Hardin said a private investigation into alleged sexual misconduct by U.S. District Judge Samuel Kent turned up information the panel wasn't aware of.
Hardin on Monday asked the judicial council to refer the matter to the Judicial Conference of the United States, which has the power to recommend Kent's impeachment.
"We believe we've uncovered some additional information that may or may not have been presented to (the council) in the original investigation so we thought it was only fair for them to be able to review the information that came from our own investigation," he said.
