Iraq politicians oppose US pact
Source: BBC

Iraqi opposition groups have criticised moves towards a long-term US-Iraqi pact following the expiry of the UN mandate governing foreign troops in Iraq.

On Monday US and Iraqi leaders signed a "declaration of principles" on enduring military, political and economic ties.

Sunni Arab and Shia politicians said it would lead to what they described as "US interference for years to come".

...

The Sunni group the Association of Muslim Scholars said the Iraqi signatories of the declaration would be looked on a "collaborators with the occupier".

...

Correspondents say US investors benefiting from preferential treatment could earn huge profits from Iraq's vast oil reserves, causing widespread resentment among Iraqis.

1. Of course were planning a long occupancy
The United States and about all other military type states has always left behind a large garrison of troops and bases to insure their dominance over that country or region. Every single war we have won in any state worldwide now has a U.S. military base there. You name it, Japan, all those Japanese islands, Germany, Guantanamo, Philippines, Africa, you name it, we got a base there, and there will be one in Iraq and Afghanistan for years to come. Oh, guess where we don't have one, Vietnam, hmmmm, must've lost that war.

3. "collaborators" sums up the widespread view of the current Iraqi leaders.
The Maliki government is corrupt.

5. I can't think of anything else
that will throw more gasoline on the fire than what bushco is doing now. But, of course that is exactly what he wants. He wants toput a stick in the bee hive so he can say that the US MUST stay for the fledgling democracy and to provide security so the Iraqi elected officials can reach an agreement to govern Iraq. Or have we been there before.

Bushco does not want peace and never has wanted peace. They are warmongers first class.

They must be removed.
