Regime Pleased With New U.S. Intelligence Report That Reverses White House View

(CBS/AP) Iran's foreign minister on Tuesday welcomed the U.S. decision to "correct" its claim that Tehran has an active nuclear weapons program, state-run radio reported.

Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki was referring to a U.S. intelligence assessment released Monday that reversed earlier claims that Iran had restarted its weapons program in 2005 after suspending it in 2003.

"It's natural that we welcome ... countries that correct their views realistically which in the past had questions and ambiguities about (Iran's nuclear activities)," Mottaki said.

Bush says Iran report a 'warning'

New intelligence saying Iran may not be developing nuclear
weapons is nevertheless a "warning sign", US President
George Bush has said.

Mr Bush stressed that the National Intelligence Estimate
said Iran was still trying to enrich uranium, and could
restart its weapons programme.

He said the report was an opportunity for the US to rally
the international community to pressure Iran.

Tehran has denied continued accusations that it is
developing nuclear weapons.

Remember Iraq. The Iranians might be thinking about getting nukes...

2. Agreed
Actual proof. Diplomatic effort. Respect for life. None of these concepts mean anything to the current administration.

3. Yeah - remember how the excuse for Iraq had to fall back on
"weapons of mass destruction-related program activities", after they proved there were no WMDs there - which seemed to boil down to a few academics having a subscription to "Infectious Disease Monthly"?
