Democrats incredulous over Bush's account of Iran report
Source: CNN.COM

Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Joe Biden on Tuesday said he can't believe President Bush hasn't known for months about a recent intelligence estimate that downplays the nuclear threat from Iran.

Joe Biden says "he refuses to believe" that Bush didn't know about new assessment of Iran's nuclear program. Other Democratic candidates also slammed Bush for continuing to ratchet up the rhetoric against Tehran.

On Tuesday the president acknowledged he had given a speech warning that Iran's nuclear development risked "World War III" about two months after his intelligence chief told him a reassessment of Tehran's nuclear ambitions was under way.

<snip>
"Are you telling me a president that's briefed every single morning, who's fixated on Iran, is not told back in August that the tentative conclusion of 16 intelligence agencies in the U.S. government said they had abandoned their effort for a nuclear weapon in '03?" Biden asked in a conference call with reporters.

1. Bush is proof that there is no god.
Edited on Tue Dec-04-07 07:36 PM by liberalmuse
I don't know of any of the gods of yore who wouldn't have zapped this lying motherfuckers ass with a huge lightening bolt by now. If he did know, he's a liar guilty of impeachable offenses. If he didn't know, he's so grossly incompetent that he needs to be removed from office immediately. Willful fucking ignorance is unacceptable. I can't believe the intelligence officers sat on this information while Bush was rattling his saber against Iran all these months. So the bottom line is, Bush is a goddamned fucking liar.

3. Bush is beyond incompetent and should be removed from
office. This nation is in grave danger because of this fool. Now we know how most Germans must have felt under Hitler's regime. The difference here is that we have a Constitution that provides for the removal of incompetent and dangerous leadership. Time to see if the Constitution is viable.

5. "we have a Constitution that provides for the removal...
of incompetent and dangerous leadership". Too bad we don't have a Congress that has enough backbone to take back their power.

4. I hope this catches on . . .
Biden laid out several really obvious questions that should occur to the folks covering this White House. "Are you telling me a president that's briefed every single morning, who's fixated on Iran . . ." See how the train of thought leads inexorably to a conclusion, ink-stained wretches of the press, pompadoured paladins of the airwaves?

Now, it's true that that conclusion implies thoughts that are strictly forbidden at your cocktail parties, but do you really want to spend your drinking time with such untrustworthy snakes?

7. Biden got caught telling the truth on TV earlier tonight.
Edited on Tue Dec-04-07 10:07 PM by ryanmuegge
It was on Hardball, I believe. He had the absolute temerity to mention the connection between the Iraq invasion and oil interests in the region (you know, the stuff that's obvious to any realistic, semi-informed adult with a functional IQ above 15). I was very impressed to hear this come from somebody other than Kucinich.

Watch for Pelosi, Clinton, Harry Reid, the Republicans, and the usual suspect demand an apology. I'm sure they'll be "outraged" and say how Biden "doesn't speak" for them. They may even have a vote to condem his statements. Who knows?

14. Actually it may have helped avert war with Iran. That is worth quite a lot.
The important thing now is to make sure the Lame Duck does no harm until he can be replaced. Our system, unlike a parlimentary system, does not have a mechanism for replacing the head of government upon loss of confidence. Yes we could try to impeach the sucker, but the truth is we don't have the votes to impeach and convict. So we are better off keeping the powder dry and making dang sure we win the next election, and in the meantime, keeping the Lame Duck lame.

Edited on Tue Dec-04-07 11:22 PM by Kelvin Mace
Nothing. Just write letters and talk a lot.

Pelosi promised Bush he wouldn't be impeached and that is one promise the Dems intend to keep.

12. Don't forget
that the shooter has prowled the offices of the CIA before and there is no doubt in my mind that he is the one that held this report up for almost a year. Yes, Bush is guilty of impeachable crimes, many of them and so is cheney. Somebody is going to be sent to the front for letting this NIE see the light of day before the bombs were dropped on Iran.
Pelosi, why don't you make a promise to the American people to uphold the Constitution.

Oh, I'm sorry, you already did. Not only a promise but an oath. Now that everybody knows what a liar and how dangerous this son of a bitch is, don't you think it's about time to break one promise and fulfill your oath of office? If you don't , you should be impeached.
