New Life Church ousts man who was wounded
Source: Denver Rocky Mounain News

Larry Bourbonnais, who was slightly wounded during last week's shootings at New Life Church, was ejected Sunday from the same church for alleged aggressive behavior.

"I took a bullet for members of this church," he was heard to shout as he was hustled out of the Colorado Springs worship complex by security guards.

The Rev. Brady Boyd said the church has petitioned for a restraining order against Bourbonnais, who tried to stop Matthew Murray's killing spree.

As the heavily armed Murray entered the church hallway, Bourbonnais, 59, reportedly called for a weapon and offered to "bring him down."

Bourbonnais told KRDO-TV in Colorado Springs that New Life officials were unhappy over his criticism of another security guard whom Bourbonnais said would not confront the gunman.

"They said I denigrated the security staff and made them look bad," Bourbonnais said.

Police said Bourbonnais left the grounds peacefully.

"He cooperated, and we told him that he wasn't welcome back on the property," police Sgt. Lonnie Spanswick said.

Boyd said church officials would contact Bourbonnais to try to reach an "amicable" resolution. He didn't elaborate.

3. Okay so....
A guy walks in bristling with weaponry ready to kill the church goers.

A security guard was unwilling to stop him and a normal civilian church goer offers to stop the MURDERER.

The civilian guy isn't given a gun, takes a bullet which could have killed him and is then kicked out of his church for complaining about the wimp of a security guard?

Is this basically what happened?

When there is a guy carrying a gun, who looks ready to kill people and you're a security guard and you're the ONLY PERSON EVEN REMOTELY EQUIPPED at that moment to stop them, YOU STOP THEM or die trying. If you're too scared to do it and the guy next to you says give me the gun and I will. YOU DO IT.

I can just imagine being on a hijacked plane full of people like that security guard or those church goers and ending up dying by running into a building because they were too afraid to save their own lives.

5. The security guard turned his most southern cheeks ASAP...
as he bolted toward safety...so much for the faith filled trip with ole Daniel to the lion's den.

I don't think the word Hero is even in the Bible one single time, so this good Samaritan may not have a legal leg to stand on, according to these haggard elder's interpretation of their very own brand of religious reality.

How would Jesus change the rules and even the "reality," as the game goes along?

What would Jesus snort, Rev. Teddy?

19. Yikes, armed security guards at a church!
I won't go to a church that thinks it needs to hire armed security guards.

You see how much good it does.

27. Some local laws
require that police or armed security guards are present with certain sized crowds. If this place hold a few thousand people they may be required to have secuirty guards such as any other venue.

7. Is this the same guy who wanted to
take the female security guard's gun after the shooter was down and put one in the shooter's head to "finish him off"?

17. Yes he wanted her to shoot him in the head to finish him off
No he didn't want to take her gun. He wanted to take the male security guard's gun who wasn't firing at the shooter. Not even sure the male guard had his gun out. Not being there I don't know that we can judge his wanting her to "finish him off". He may have thought the guy still a danger. BTW, this guy is supposed to be a Vietnam vet.

10. Never ever ever criticize your own church. They just hate being wrong.
If their membership was under 500 they probably get along with each better.

Bourbonnais did the right thing by canceling meetings with the church representatives. I sure as hell wouldn't meet someone that I just barely know in an environment that is psychologically set up to induce meekness and not allowed to have any control.

It will happen to you too. But, since you bring it up.....Why the heck does a CHURCH need a gun-toting
armed guard?

12. Mega-churches give you the same feeling of belonging...
...you used to get at Nuremberg rallies 70 years ago. The big surprise to me is that this church will still get thousands of attendees next Sunday.

14. Having never been to Israel, I have never seen armed guards at a religious service,
except for the Pope's Swiss Guards, and he is a head of state, and they are a relic of the Papal States.

Can one just imagine, "Open battle broke out in the streets of New York as the 11th Batallion of the 10 am Sunday Service Brigade of the St. Mark's Army faced off with the 12th Batallion of the same militia. Reinforcements were soon rushed in from both sides, and it is believed that St. Luke's is soon to reinforce the 12th Batallion. Reasons were sketchy at best as to the roots of the fighting, but is believed to stem from a church organist appointment."

except for pacifist denominations, basic Christianity does not forbid the use of force in self defense, or to protect others who are in imminent danger
