U.S.-led troops find mass graves, torture house in Iraq
Source: Xinhuanet

BEIJING, Dec. 20(Xinhuanet) -- U.S.-led coalition troops in Iraq have found 26 bodies buried in mass graves and a torture complex, said the Multinational Division North at Camp Speicher in Tikrit as quoted by media reports Wednesday.

The troops discovered the bloodstained torture complex with chains hanging from walls and ceilings and a bed connected to an electrical system during an operation north of Muqdadiya, the military added in a statement.

The complex was in an area thought to be an al Qaeda safe haven and operating base, the U.S. military said. Iraqis had told the military about the site during an earlier operation.

From Dec. 8 to 11, the troops who found the complex also killed 24 people they said were terrorists and detained 37 suspects.

10. GIs make grisly Iraq discovery (alQaeda post-invasion torture center)
Source: MSNBC

BAGHDAD - U.S. soldiers found mass graves north of Baghdad next to a torture center where chains were attached to blood-spattered walls and a metal bed frame was still connected to an electrical shock system, the military said Thursday.

The torture center, which the U.S. military said it suspected was run by al-Qaida in Iraq, was found based on tips from Iraqis in the area, where the al-Qaida insurgents are very active. Graves containing 26 bodies were found nearby.

“We discovered several (weapons) caches, a torture facility that had chains, a bed — an iron bed that was still connected to a battery — knives and swords that were still covered in blood as we went in to go after the terrorists in that area,” said Army Maj. Gen. Mark P. Hertling, the top U.S. commander in northern Iraq.

18. How can they call it torture?
Even the Attorney General of the United States can't make a definitive statement about what is or is not torture. Maybe the bed was a makeshift large-scale TENS unit. Hard to believe that an Army general would make such a reckless pronouncement, and that a responsible news outlet like MSNBC would repeat it.

28. Okay, I have two questions here:
From the MSNBC article:
"Separately, at least 13 Iraqis were killed when a suicide bomber targeted a group of people who had gathered around U.S. soldiers handing out holiday gifts northeast of Baghdad, authorities said."

Haven't we learned yet that you do NOT gather a crowd of people to give out gifts because it has proven to be an excellent oppurtunity for suicide bombers?????

And what kind of "holiday" gifts are we giving to people who do not celebrate our "holiday"

I understand giving out soccer balls in exchange for the toy rifles, however. Since these toys evidently look real.

throw some chicken blood on the floor, and get a camera. We'll send the pictures to Pox News (cuz if it's on TV, everyone knows it's gotta be true) - maybe it'll take some of the heat off the WH from when they burned those torture tapes we made."

"Great idea, Fred! We'll call it the 'al Qaeda Torture House'! The murican people will think, 'hey, they torture, so why shouldn't we?' - and then they'll consent to let us torture people at will."

38. Insurgent 'torture chamber' found in Iraq: US
Edited on Thu Dec-20-07 07:31 PM by flamingyouth
Source: AFP

BAGHDAD (AFP) - A blood-spattered "torture complex" used by Iraqi insurgents, and the remains of 26 people buried nearby, were found in the province of Diyala on Thursday, the US military announced.

The news came as at least 36 people were killed in Diyala, most of them in a suicide attack and clashes between suspected Al-Qaeda militants and security forces, officials said.

The grisly discovery near the town of Muqdadiyah, was made during the military's December 8-11 Operation Iron Reeper but only announced on Thursday.

The torture chamber was housed in a area containing three detention facilities, the military said.

42. Not Iraqi insurgents. More than likely Sauds are the evildoers here.
But of course the media has to push forth stories such as this proving that Iraqis are just animals. It is okay that after four years of daily dropping bombs on their families, killing hundreds of thousands of women and babies, we can still claim to be the good guys because Iraqis are just animals.
