French jailed in Chad to return home
By DANY PADIRE, Associated Press Writer

N'DJAMENA, Chad - Six French charity workers sentenced to eight years of forced labor for trying to kidnap 103 children from this African country will return to France, a Chadian official said Friday.

The members of Zoe's Ark were going back to France on a special flight, the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity because he is not authorized to speak to the media.

The defendants maintain they were driven by compassion to help orphans in Sudan's Darfur region, which borders Chad. An uprising that flared in Darfur in 2003 has led to the deaths of more than 200,000 people and forced 2.5 million to flee.

But subsequent investigations revealed most of the 103 children that Zoe's Ark was planning to fly out were Chadians who lived with at least one parent or close adult relative.

4. You're right.
Probably little diplomacy at all.

A legal accord from '76 was fairly instrumental. Of course, the Chadian government's desire to try to stay on good relations with the French even while playing to populist sentiments at home had something to do with it. France has profited fairly nicely by maintaing her sphere of influence from colonial days.

2. Yesterday - I swear I heard on radio that the 'charity workers' were

going to 'use' the 'orphans' - the charity workders had already been accused in the press? So, which is it? Coming from AP through Yahoo? This writer seems to be wording this carefully, but what I heard on the radio was different - I was listening to (NPR and Air America). I'm off to find an alternative source.

If not orphans ...
If not compassion ...
If for adult slave purposes ...

If a corrupt government in Chad ...
If a corrupt agency in Chad ...

If only - there was peace on earth.

There seems to be a race on to see which predators can be the most successful at claiming ME ME ME! Cheney is on first - on behalf of Cheney and the people he serves.
