Embattled District Attorney Chuck Rosenthal ended his re-election bid, just minutes before the filing deadline Wednesday night. In a one-line letter to Harris County Republican Party Chairman Jared Woodfill, Rosenthal requested his name be removed from consideration as the GOP nominee for the office.
Just minutes before faxing over his withdraw letter, Rosenthal, who has been embroiled in an e-mail scandal over sometimes-salacious messages he sent to his executive secretary, a former assistant DA filed the paperwork to seek the Republican’s nomination for the county’s top law enforcement post.

Prior to today, who would have thought a few simple keystrokes could have such far-reaching ramifications?
Apparently not Harris County District Attorney Chuck Rosenthal, when he used county computers to send intimate emails to his executive secretary.
