Thousands more NW troops headed to Iraq
housands of more troops from Fort Lewis, Wash. will be headed to Iraq soon.

The U.S. Army's new Stryker unit at Fort Lewis is being sent to Iraq to relieve troops that have been deployed for nearly a year. ..

The Fort Lewis unit has 3,600 soldiers who recently completed training in Yakima, Southern California and Louisiana.

The Army Chief of Staff, General John Keane, said he's confident the Stryker Brigade is ready for action in Iraq, although it has yet to be formally certified as operationally ready.

U.S. soldiers in Iraq face daily attacks. Since President Bush declared an end to major combat on May 1st, 97 U.S. troops have died.

1. They are being trained???
I feel for those guys.

Combat is one thing, police action and target action is another.

The Pubs have not a clue how to solve the problem. They are faking their way thru this.

4. Not Until 2007
The Stryker Brigades were not slated to be operationally certified until 2007, and deployed by 2008.

The only test they've had is at the National Training Center at Ft.
Irwin California.

The Stryker is a light armored wheeled vehicle, we now get to see how
effective RPGs and heavy machine guns will be against this vehicle.

The two brigades of the 3rd ID number 9,000 soldiers. How is a 3,600
man brigade suppose to do the same job?

I guess we'll find out soon!!!

6. I read a lessons learned page from Afghanistan
that was less than admiring about the Stryker, IIRC.
Called it a death trap. Does that make sense? The
reason I ask is I'm wondering WTF they were doing there.

9. What about remote controled roadside bombs?
We really need a regime change. The pentagon has really collapsed under rummy and wolfie. I'll be there are plenty of disgusted officers writing to the parents of the diseased.

5. Just found out
7,000 soldiers from the 25th ID in Schofield Barracks Hawaii are being sent to Afghanistan. This is almost half of the 25th, and
what really sucks is that the 25th ID is the back up unit for the
2nd ID in Korea.

If the NKs come over the border our troops are screwed. This is more
evidence that the Shrub and his cronies have no clue about what is
going on.
