Resurgent McCain defeats Romney in N.H.
It's an Obama-Clinton struggle among Democrats

MANCHESTER, N.H. - Sen. John McCain won New Hampshire's Republican presidential primary Tuesday, decisively defeating former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney. On the Democrats' side, Sen. Barack Obama and Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton battled in a race that was too close to call.

Interview with voters leaving the polls showed McCain building an advantage over Romney on the strength of independent voters, who helped the Arizona senator win the state primary eight years ago. About one-third of votes cast in the Republican race were from independents, and McCain was winning them.

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, who won the Iowa caucuses last week, was running third in the Republican race in New Hampshire.

7. This is good news
I want McCain to win the republican nomination. The old fart will implode. Remember Dole? He's extremely pro-war and no one under 35 will vote for McCain.

9. Except that
the mainstream media seems to love the guy and gives him free pass. They're the ones who have branded him a "maverick".

11. I'd rather the Dem runs against
a slick, plastic smooth talking Romney or a Jesus Christer Huckabee.

10. I Think This Is Good News, Too, But For Different Reasons
I think this is good news, too, but for different reasons. I suspect that Mitt-sie was the Establishment Republican candidate, and the more-"Joe-mentum" he accumulates, the sooner Mitt-sie's candidacy implodes and the blacker the eye for the GOP Establishment. McCain is likely to do better in the Northeast and the West than Huckabee, and I like the idea of those two slugging it out with the social reactionaries and Christian Dominionists and the remnant Republican libertarians going for each other's throats. Somehow, even if the Repuds' devil-in-a-suit Hillary Clinton gets the Democratic nomination, the Repuds will go into the fall campaign feeling very disunited and resentful at each other.
