Teamsters Court Filing Says Bush Administration Is Breaking Law Again
Edited on Wed Jan-09-08 08:38 PM by Omaha Steve
Source: Workers Independent News

By Doug Cunningham

A Teamsters court filing says the Bush administration broke yet another law in continuing to let long-haul Mexican trucks onto U.S. highways. Congress banned funding December 26th, but Bush is going forward anyway. Two days of debate and 20 pages of congressional record show Congress clearly intended to stop the program. The Teamsters believe this Mexican truck pilot program is dangerous because Mexican drivers aren’t held to the same safety standards as U.S. drivers. The Teamsters are challenging the legality of the Bush Mexican trucks program in federal court. A hearing is set for February 12th in the 9th Circuit.

7. Those highways from Mexico run right through here.
No big accidents, yet. Biggest problem we have is illegals being smuggled in hot containers in the summer and dying en route from heat stroke.

17. Yep. That will also lead to accidents and less power for the
truckers to control their careers. American slavery.

10. Teamsters
I can't document this, but my memory tells me that the teamsters are the most republican of the unions. Not the members, but their leaders have always sucked. From an IBEW guy.

11. "the most republican of the unions"
The less corporate Republicans seem freaked out about Mexico and Mexicans (and anyone else that isn't a cousin) so I am surprised that this is not a bigger wedge issue for Republicans. It's their Wall on 18 wheels.
