Cheney's Daughter Joins Romney Camp
Source: AP

MIAMI (AP) — Liz Cheney, one of Vice President Dick Cheney's daughters, has signed onto Mitt Romney's presidential campaign as a senior foreign policy adviser.

Cheney most recently worked in the State Department handling Middle East affairs.

While her father and President Bush have both vowed to remain neutral as their fellow Republicans battle it out for the GOP nomination, the endorsement is likely to be well received among conservatives who comprise a critical primary voting bloc in both Florida, which votes Tuesday, and the 20-odd states voting Feb. 5.

Liz Cheney previously supported former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson, who dropped out of the race last week.

Looks like Romney is the "annointed one".

1. With Rudy's demise, the neocons are selecting Romney as "the anointed one."
You are right, Romney is the anointed one. With no core values, he is easily manipulated. I think Rudy was their first choice, but he is going nowhere. So they have switched to a guy who will do anything to get their support, including being a big-time PNAC-type neo-con, if that's what it takes.

3. "Anointed one"? Judging from his hair, I think they meant the "ointment" one.

29. Romney's a typical empty suit
Hey, it worked with Ray-Gun and Shrub. The "real" masters of power need someone to play the role of "Grandfather", "Rancher", "Cowboy", or "Aw-Shucks Charmer", while they clean out the rest of the vault.

What role will Romney play? Elvis, or Erol Flynn?

30. Right. If Romney is as wonderful as she was saying
this morning on "Morning Joe" (MSNBC), why didn't she support him from the start? She was gushing about Romney and his perfection. Yet, she would have still been in Thompson's camp if he hadn't disintegrated. So, now she's totally enthralled by Romney and wants us all to believe he's the answer to America's problems. Only he wasn't a week ago. Just since Thompson bowed out.
I think poor Liz is worried that a Dem. is going to get elected and cut off her Carlyle Group slush fund.
Who knows? After Super Tuesday she could be a McCain groupie. I get the feeling she's a bit promiscuous when it comes to her political crushes.

6. "...a senior foreign policy adviser?"
Yeah, I read the part about "Cheney most recently worked in the State Department handling Middle East affairs," but when I hear the words "senior foreign policy adviser" my mind immediately goes to the concept of "decades of experience," not "Someone whose dad happens to be Vice President."

13. ... Cheney was .. "responsible for the 'democratization' of Iran" ... Previously, Liz Cheney ran the
Office of Iranian Affairs, the reincarnation of the Office of Special Plans, "apparently housed in the same Pentagon offices inhabited by its predecessor and involving some of the same slimy personnel" ... http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Elizabeth_Cheney

20. The romney campaign is where jeb bush sent all his friends, also.
And very early-on, too.

I don't think there's much affection in the bush camp for john mccain. He's just a chump to be used and discarded at the end. Besides, they always did like the "bidness model."

22. ah the pleasures of being born into extreme wealth
without one scintilla of talent not to mention intelligence. Ah the pleasures of making big bucks, without ever having to have worked for it simply because you were born into it.

Laura Bush, great "career" as a librarian for four years, who wrote a book, now skating along happily on all her husband's money for the majority of her life and she likes it that way. Welfare queen? Jenna Bush, great writer of a single book, will skate along all of her life on daddy's money and her career as she gets along and ages, will be touted as a great and talented writer and authoress. Not Jenna? Where is she anyhow? Still doing fashion stuff in some NY museum?

32. Annointed... yes.
It's fairly close to what I'd call a VP endorsement.

But what really worries me is that anyone who gets a CHENEY endorsement is committed to furthering any military activity that puts money into the hands of government contractors.

Especially someone who will have a Cheney as a "foreign policy advisor". We've already seen the Cheney foreign policy...
