Study: Network News Criticizes Dean Most

LOS ANGELES - Howard Dean (news - web sites) received significantly more criticism on network newscasts than the other Democratic presidential contenders, who were the subjects of more favorable coverage, according to a study released Thursday.

More than three-quarters of the coverage of Dean's foes by the nightly news programs was favorable, while a majority of attention to Dean was negative, the Center for Media and Public Affairs found.

The study by the Washington-based media watchdog also found that network attention to the campaign was down by 62 percent compared to the last race involving an incumbent president, in 1996.

Researchers examined 187 stories broadcast on the ABC, CBS or NBC evening newscasts in 2003, looking at elements including quoted remarks about candidates and how they were depicted in profiles.

3. No kidding, I have been arguing about this for a while now.
The media and this administration is terrified of Dean. He vowed to break them up and they hate him for it. Glad to see that we weren't just being paranoid.

2. They lump all the other candidates together.
That shows the deception right there. noone in their right mind could say Kerry wasn't hounded by bad process stories all last yera and ignored for favorable events. Edwards and Kucinich were mostly ignored.

Almost all the media oxygen went to Dean. They even gave him a press plane in June, but held off any stories about his actual record until last month.

10. The whores have been going after Dean
with everything they've got. The freepers I have the misfortune of working with listen to the vulgar pigboy and insHannity all day. (Don't ask me how I stand it, I can't and sometimes think my head is going to explode.) Anyhow, the Dean bashing is at a fever pitch. To hear them talk, you'd think Dean was a demented nutcase who should be put away for the protection of society. It's that bad. And today they started going after Clark with a shitload of crap about how the guy has no integrity. For Christsake, Limpballs the addict and InsHannity the uberwhore, two world class lying lowlife pieces of soulless shit who get paid good money to trash the "Democrat potty" as Rush calls us, over the public airwaves no less, have the unmitigated gall to go after a person of Clark's stature. Why? Because they have no scruples, no decency, and no humanity. But more than that they're scared shitless that Dean or Clark or (their worst nightmare) a Dean/Clark ticket will fight back and go for the chimp's jugular, and maybe people will pay attention, and the chimp will be out on his sorry ass come November.

I know those two are extreme cases, but the so-called mainstream isn't much better. That sourpuss Candy Crowley ended a piece on Dean yesterday with a predictable diss, making a snide comment about a campaign commercial he's been running in Iowa.

I only hope that the Dem candidates quit criticizing each other, unite, and pound on the chimp at every opportunity. The only way to fight the repukes is to go toe to toe, get in their lying faces with the truth, and never ever back down.

23. That was great
All the news stations do is trash Dean. It is not often that they give the man his due. He has developed a following and has not done nearly as bad as the press would have it. Nothing against the others, but I don't think these tactics will silence him.
It is really hard to believe that B*sh and R*ve want to run against Dean or Clark. NO Way!

15. I notice whenever there's a debate-
the news networks' "coverage" shown later usually consists of one moment over and over, and it usually focuses on Dean. In one debate, the footage of interest was something that had to do with who raised their hands on a question about Dean. Another recent one is the supposed Sharpton "gotcha" moment. They will repeatedly focus on these more than anything else, which is unfair not only to Dean but the other candidates, as their valid points are often ignored later in favor of Dean's negative coverage.

17. What about that question he was asked in the NH debate..
"When is it appropriate to lie as President?" What kind of question is that?

Of course they only asked Dean that one. What would Holy Joe's response have been? Or Clarks?

22. Please list every legitimate corporate media criticism of Dean.
The guy is clean as a whistle and the attacks are generally pathetically transparent smears.
