Frost to challenge incumbent Sessions for U.S. House seat
Associated Press
Veteran Democratic U.S. Rep. Martin Frost will announce plans today to challenge Republican incumbent Rep. Pete Sessions in a bid to preserve his congressional career.

Frost's current district in the Dallas-Fort Worth area was dismantled by GOP map-drawers earlier this year who were looking to put more Republican Texans in Congress.

A Democratic strategist confirmed reports, on condition of anonymity, that Frost will file to run in Congressional District 32. Reports were first published Thursday in The Dallas Morning News.

The district encompasses part of north and west Dallas, the largely Hispanic neighborhoods of North Oak Cliff and part of the heavily Republican Park Cities. Frost has traditionally been popular among Hispanic and black voters.

Observers say it will be an uphill climb for a Democrat, but, with a strong campaign, Frost could do well.

1. This pisses me off.. Frost is one of the "good guys"
and now he will have to spend lots of money to compete against soomeone who probably has "the fix in"..

Why do we even bother with a census, if the results can be changed at the whim of whatever party is in control at the time??

With computers being so sophisticated now, each state should be "gridded" and let the chips fall where they may.. If the population dictates 10 reps, the the state should be divided into 10 equal parts, and no gerrymandering allowed.. for EITHER party..

and whatever the lowest populated state has, should be used as a guide for all states.. There is no reason that we still only have 435 reporesentatives, when we have nearly 300 million people.. Our population keeps going up, and instead of the musical chairs approach, we need a more balanced approach..

I would even be in favor of 3 or 4 senators from each state... I would actually like to see each state send a dem and a repube, and an independent/other party..

We need to shake things up, since no one seems to be doing the business of the people..

It's too bad all the states could not put thins kind of reform on a binding referendum on the next election.. We know that the ones who are there now will never vote to change things if it means they might lose their turn at the pork barrel. The only way this could ever happen would be for the states to all get together and MAKE THEM change it..

3. Martin Frost represented his district 24 years
before the Delay Republicans stripped his area, the 32nd District, away from him.

Why should Martin Frost, who has done such a WONDERFUL job all this time have to get bumped off just because a few idiots pulled a fast one?

I hope the voters of Texas will remember all the hard work he has done all this time and REELECT him, in a landslide, in the "new" district.

4. Me too.
Of course it will be a hard uphill climb knowing that the "voting" machines have already been programmed with the "winner".
