Edwards, Obama meeting canceled
Source: MSNBC

When asked about the AP report that Obama and Edwards meeting is not happening today, the Obama campaign told us to talk to the Edwards camp. However, when pressed, they said it wouldn't be inaccurate to report that the meeting will not happen today or tomorrow.

A source close to Edwards confirms that the meeting has been canceled. But the source doesn’t know the reason behind it; it could be something as simple as a scheduling conflict.

2. Obama or Clinton will find a role for a man of John Edwards talents, but Obama would benefit from..
an Edwards endrorsement most. It would help translate to people that Obama would try to carry out John Edwards' policies more then an HRC administration. I can also see Edwards as the AG and being VERY aggressive in investigating the last 8 years.

3. That's Truly Unfortunate For the Country, If Interpretations Are Correct
Because if Hillary wins at this point, it looks like a fix. And if she loses, Edwards is on the outside, not even looking in.

4. this snip makes it look like it was Obama's choice
She also is vying with Obama for the endorsement of former candidate John Edwards. Clinton quietly visited Edwards last Thursday in North Carolina, but Obama decided not to do the same on Monday.

For now, at least, the wind is at Obama's back. Polls published Sunday showed him leading in Maryland and Virginia, which hold primaries Tuesday, along with the District of Columbia.

17. He doesn't need the endorsement for Tuesday.
Their internals must be very good. Maybe he's having Edward's hold off on an announcement until it will have a bigger impact in Ohio.

5. Obama camp now saying it's rescheduled.
ABC News' Sunlen Miller Reports: An in-person meeting schedule for tonight between Senator Barack Obama and former Senator John Edwards in North Carolina has been rescheduled, the Obama campaign confirms.

6. Thanks for the update. At this point, I would rather think of it as a scheduling conflict than
something more serious.

It's far too early in the week for crushing what little hope or illusion is left to us.

8. Before shooting the players
I think Obama needs to use a bit more discretion. Edwards will meet with him, but it will have to be under the radar, not with the MSM camped outside his yard.

12. I agree
is it *possible* that Edwards might *actually* prefer Clinton? My primary is tomorrow, and I change my mind every five minutes.

There seems to be this tone that if someone prefers Clinton, they are a dirty inside dlc wonk, but if they prefer Obama, it is because they believe in truth and change. It has not boded well with me at all.

To be fair, Obama has tried to deflect this by saying how much he likes her, or how he would support Hillary if she were the nominee. It is a shame that his supporters detract from his message of hope with such unstatesmenlike behavior.

And, yes, I've seen this more on his side than hers.

Just my observation. I just keep struggling with myself as to whether that's a good enough reason not to vote for him (or for her...I like her voting record just fine, since it is almost exactly the same as his).

I hope everyone gets back to being civil soon. I'm a longtime lurker, not paid by ANY campaign, lifelong Democrat, who logged in just to try and up the 'nice'.

18. What about Obama's wife
She wasn't sure she could support Hillary if she were chosen. I can't imagine who she might vote for other than Hillary in the GE if Hillary gets the nod.Neither Obama or his wife are very good at losing.

20. That's a sad thing to say...
I hope you are wrong about that because it says something bad about her if it is true. But, I've heard no backpedalling thus far so...

But it really was a dumb thing to say.

that you would pretend to not know that Michelle said this very thing in an interview. Not really bad to say when it is true. You trolls amaze me.

22. The question was would she "WORK" to support Hillary.
Not would she "support" Hillary.

There is a WORLD of difference.

16. I think Edwards should keep his own counsel for a while
His influence can probably be traded for something more substantial later (cabinet appointment or promise to enact some key anti-poverty legislation).

There is a risk one candidate might pull away in the meantime, but I doubt it.
