Kuwait emir 'to call fresh polls'

Kuwait's ruler has ordered parliament to be dissolved amid a political crisis that has prompted the entire cabinet to tender its resignation, MPs say.
Fresh elections in the oil-rich state are expected to be held in May.

The decision came after Sheikh Sabah cut short a private visit to Morocco to deal with the crisis.

Kuwait's parliament has been involved in a series of long-running disputes with ministers coming to a head with the cabinet's resignation on Monday.

MPs had been demanding a further pay rise for state employees something the cabinet was against.

Sheikh Sabah will formally announce the dissolution in a televised address, MPs said.
