U.S. Orders For Big-Ticket Manufactured Goods Drop For Second Straight Month
Source: Associated Press

WASHINGTON - Orders to factories for big-ticket manufactured goods fell for a second straight month in February, a worse-than-expected performance that provided more evidence of the economic troubles gripping America.

The Commerce Department reported Wednesday that demand for durable goods dropped 1.7 per cent last month, disappointing analysts who had been expecting a small rebound after a 4.7 per cent decline in orders in January.

Demand for manufacturing equipment plunged by 13.3 per cent, the largest decline on record.

The problems in manufacturing are a reflection of weakness in the overall economy as the country struggles with a prolonged slump in housing, a severe credit crunch, soaring energy prices and higher unemployment.

--
The 1.7 per cent overall drop in orders for durable goods - items expected to last at least three years - was worse than the one per cent increase that many economists had expected.

1. Can't wait for the rummage sales to start. I try to stay out of their "gee
look how good we are doing" stats as much as possible. As long as we are supporting a war and policies that are not good for us I want nothing to do with their big ticket materials.

2. We here in Michigan need to weather to warm up so the garage sales will start up.
Should be some good bargains here in this economic climate. Need to replace my Weber grill and on the 'lookout'!

4. Good News???
I feel sorry for the average worker suffering out there which I include myself in this category but this may be our only avenue to show our disapproval of the criminal Fascist republicans and the ineptness of the criminal Fascist enablers Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Rahm Emanuel, Jay Rockefeller, Ted Kennedy. The only thing these Fascist criminals understand is money, I will not purchase anything of value until all of these criminals are impeached or voted out of office, SHUT IT DOWN!!!
