Democratic challenger Kosmas overtakes Feeney in campaign fundraising
Source: Orlando Sentinel

WASHINGTON - In a surprising turn, Democratic challenger Suzanne Kosmas has pulled ahead of U.S. Rep. Tom Feeney, R-Oviedo, in the race for campaign dollars, election records show.

In the first three months of 2008, Kosmas, a former state lawmaker from New Smyrna Beach, collected more than $300,000 -- surpassing Feeney, a third-term incumbent, by more than $100,000, according to reports filed with the Federal Election Commission.

Her contributors were a mix of unions, local supporters and national Democrats, including Democratic Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md., who gave $4,000. She reported she had about $581,000 in cash-on-hand, about $32,000 more than Feeney's $549,000.

"I am very excited and honored by the groundswell of support," said Kosmas, who represented Volusia County for eight years in the Florida House, through 2004.

1. Feeney's a crook and the person who exposed him is running again
also on the Democratic ticket. Kosmas was endorsed by the DCCC ONLY because she could raise her own money for the campaign. Clint Curtis has worked diligently to expose the election fraud and its connection to Feeney for years. And what's his reward? A kick in the ass by the Democrats- who lost many elections most likely because of that fraud.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Republicans are also funding Ms. Kosmas' campaign. Oops, but that's only wrong if Nader does it!

The Democratic Party in Florida is a scam!

:grr:

2. She has been a FL party pet for a long time
People should be wary of that...

5. By 'party pet,' do you mean successful at being elected by voters as a Democrat?

3. You are correct, but must support CLINT CURTIS if he's to beat the "Bush Dem" the DCCC is running!
Edited on Wed Apr-16-08 12:02 PM by BradBlog
Curtis' donation page is at: http://clintcurtis.com/contribute.htm

And you're correct, the DCCC has put up Kosmas because she's a self-financed millionaire. So little surprise that her $ numbers are up (which seems to be the only thing the Dems care about right now, apparently).

Slight correction to the linked interview above:
http://www.bradblog.com/?p=5866

...In which Curtis alleges Kosmas has some of the same ethical problems as Feeney.

For more on the dirty Feeney, and Curtis' long and documented allegations of the powerful Republicans' request that Curtis create vote-rigging software for him, when Curtis worked as a computer programmer where Feeney served as general counsel and registered lobbyist (even while Feeney was Speaker of the FL House!) see:

6. Calling someone a 'Bush Dem" does not make it so
Edited on Wed Apr-16-08 01:47 PM by Freddie Stubbs
I find it humorous that Curtis is using a Zogby poll to claim that his race last time was close. This would be the same Zogby that did a poll showing Obama trouncing Hillary in the California primary:

Obama 49%

Clinton 36%

http://www.zogby.com/news/ReadNews.dbm?ID=1446

The actual result was Hillary winning by 11%.

I especially love how in the interview where Curtis says that the primary is August 7. I certainly hope that all of Curtis' supporters show up to vote on August 7. Kosmas' supporters will be voting on August 26.

4. If by 'exposed,' you mean made accusations he could not back up, then yes, he did expose Feeney
As for why the DCCC is backing her, perhaps they wanted a candidate with deep roots in the community (has lived there for over 30 years), with a record of civic involvement in the (Chairwoman of the County United Way), and a history of winning elections elections (elected to the FL House four times).

As for the subject of losing elections, Mr. Curtis certainly knows about that. Feeney kicked his butt by a margin of over 33,000 votes.
