British Soldier Dies in Iraq Crash
British Soldier Dies in Iraq Crash

LONDON (Reuters) - A British soldier was killed and another was injured in a road accident in Iraq, Britain's Defense Ministry said Friday.

Rifleman Vincent Windsor, 23, of the Royal Green Jackets regiment, was killed in a crash in the southeast city of Amarah Wednesday.

A Ministry of Defense spokesman said no details of the crash would be released.

Windsor, from Oxfordshire, north of London, had served in Germany and Bosnia and was on his second tour with the battalion in Iraq.

The Ministry of Defense said on its Web site that 58 British troops and support staff had died in Iraq since the U.S.-led invasion began last March.

Most of the 10,000 British troops in Iraq are based around the southern Iraqi city of Basra, which Prime Minister Tony Blair visited earlier this month.
