Rice raises new doubts about Iran's nuclear program
Source: AP

5/1/2008, 9:59 p.m. EDT

LONDON (AP) — Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice raised fresh doubts Thursday about the nature of Iran's nuclear program, saying if the clerical state really wanted only an avenue to peaceful atomic energy it could quickly have it.

Instead, Iran is stonewalling on an attractive deal to trade away only the part of the program that could result in a nuclear weapon, Rice said ahead of a gathering of the U.N. nations that have presented a carrot-or-stick package to Iran.

"I continue to suspect this is not at all about a civil nuclear program," Rice told reporters traveling with her. Iran's insistence that it be able to enrich uranium on its terms seems at cross-purposes with that goal, Rice said.

"One has to wonder what is going on here."

1. Yes, we will have to wonder
Because no one in our gang of idiots in DC will apply any real intelligence to the matter. They'll just go to war again.

3. What is going on here, is that they want to do it themselves.
We are just trying to sell them our equipment, our parts and our people. All for a nominal fee of course (oil rights). They, on the other hand, are saying, no we will keep things in house incuding R&D and construction.
Short story: They will not allow themselves to become enslaved to the US govt.

5. Mushroom Cloud
Fool me twice, well, I'm not gonna get fooled again. There might be a mushroom cloud over U.S. cities, but then again, there might not. It depends on how you connect the dots.

7. because loyalties change after elections...see Venezuela for an example
when we liked the government we sold them airplanes, after Chavez was voted in we refused to sell them needed parts to keep up the fleet...if Russia sold them plutonium (or whatever) and voted in a US friendly government they could stop at any time selling them their country's energy needs and they would be screwed...It ain't like the world does not pay attention to what we do!

11. Iran can't have nukes because Uncle Sam didn't like it
But that's hardly a logical sound justification.

12. The plan is very simple
Have a Reichstad fire/Pearl Harbour/9-11 moment eg. nuke LA.
Invade Iran even though analysis of the fallout shows it to be an American-built bomb.
Declare martial law for no particularly coherent reason
Suspend US elections
Declare Dubya President-for-life
