Governor, Democrats Call On Marc Dann To Resign

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Gov. Ted Strickland and other Democratic leaders on Monday called on scandal-scarred Attorney General Marc Dann to resign.

Strickland, Sen. Sherrod Brown, Dann's fellow Democratic state officeholders and all Democratic state legislators sent Dann a letter imploring him to step down.

On Friday, Dann admitted to an extramarital affair with a subordinate after findings in an unrelated sexual harassment investigation threatened to reveal the relationship.

Dann's actions irreparably harmed his ability to do his job, the leaders wrote in a letter penned Sunday night after a grueling weekend of contemplation.

"The work of the Office of the Attorney General matters more, and is far more important, than any one person," the letter said. "In many, many cases it is all that stands between the people and the powerful. Sadly, we no longer have even the most remote hope that you can continue to effectively serve as Attorney General and that is why we are asking for your resignation."

2. Sexual Harassment not good
getting a little on the side, not bad, unless you are his wife. Another Dem goes down the tubes because we keep obsessing on sex instead of the issues.

3. This guy is just flat-out incompetent, and even admits it.
The way he has managed his office and employees is a disgrace. Maybe now he'll see the light and go, before he singlehandedly hands state government back to the GOP. I really don't want to see the likes of Ken Blackwell or his ilk being resurrected here.

4. How is a new AG selected?
He should not resign if it turns the AG office over to the Bob Taft Republican Party.

11. Couldn't agree more!
Interesting that this -- the only reply to this topic that asks this question -- sees the question remain still unanswered.

5. Dann was the only one representing us on the Lake Erie shorline issue after Gov. Strickland sold out
The issue is that landowners want to claim ownership of the entire beach and out into Lake Erie. Governor Strickland sold out on that issue during his governor's race.

6. Here's the text of Strickland's letter, which is also signed by the Dems.
Short, sweet, and to the point. Media is awaiting Dann's response. It really should not have come to this.

We worked so very hard to get this clown put in place, and he returns the favor with the same kind of slimy shit that I'd expect from republicans. Republicans, I might add, who are frothing at the mouth with investigations now. What the hell is with attorneys, republican and democrat alike? Do they think they are above the fucking law? All that money, and power seems to go right to their dicks. They disgust me.
