Dean: Iraqi Standard of Living Worse Now
Dean: Iraqi Standard of Living Worse Now

By NEDRA PICKLER, Associated Press Writer

MANCHESTER, N.H. - Democratic presidential hopeful Howard Dean (news - web sites) said Sunday that the standard of living for Iraqis is a "whole lot worse" since Saddam Hussein (news - web sites)'s removal from power in last year's American-led invasion.

"You can say that it's great that Saddam is gone and I'm sure that a lot of Iraqis feel it is great that Saddam is gone," said the former Vermont governor, an unflinching critic of the war against Iraq (news - web sites). "But a lot of them gave their lives. And their living standard is a whole lot worse now than it was before."

Dean commented as he campaigned through the final two days before New Hampshire's first-in-the-nation primary. He once led comfortably in the polls here but now lags behind fellow New Englander John Kerry (news - web sites). "We are now within striking distance of winning," Dean told a rally for women supporters.

Dean spent the day

2. So Is Ours, friends
The whole world is impoverished by war, that's why a stupid, unnecessary war is such a crime.

3. But we brought them Burger King and Zip Codes ....
and in return, only took
Their oil
Their infrastructure
Their electricity
Their hospitals
Their food supply
Their water supply
Their artifacts

How dare Dean say such a thing ?!?!?

9. But it's true.
And now we're looking at a possible civil war. The Iraqis aren't going to be better off if that happens.

Dean is speaking the truth, the Establishment just thinks it's hell.

Yeah, yeah...I know: "ideological purity yada yada yada thought Bush would the right thing yada yada yada..."

Kerry is a war enabler. He'll never get my vote.
