Barack Obama 'has enough super-delegates to win Democratic nomination'
Source: Telegraph UK

Barack Obama believes he has already secured the private support of enough super-delegates to beat Hillary Clinton in the race for the Democratic White House nomination, The Sunday Telegraph has learned.

The Illinois senator last week switched his attention to the general election battle against John McCain after locking down more than enough pledges to reach the victory target of 2,025 delegates.

A senior Democrat strategist, familiar with discussions at the highest levels of the Obama camp, has revealed that Mr Obama is now confident of the support of around 120 of the remaining 260 undeclared superdelegates.

His aides believe he will only need between 70 and 80 to be sure of the nomination if he wins the Oregon, Montana and South Dakota primaries as expected ater this month.

1. I believe Obama already has it as well, so why not let Hillary continue
as long as she feels she needs to, if we are confident she has no chance.

3. The question is, why does she "need to"?
It's destroying her reputation, her husband's reputation, and it's handing McCain extra time to campaign. The *obvious* best choice is to STOP.

41. Be smart....
Why can't people see what's going on. The republicans have proven to be experts in winning elections, especially by cheating, but truly by knowing exactly what to do. Obama, no matter how great of a guy he is, CANNOT beat McCain. The republicans know this, which is why they are voting for him in open primaries...no matter how they've spun it in the media. Hillary's the only one that has a chance at beating him. Even though Bill tarnished his record with some of his actions, the country was in a much better state when he was in office, and people remember that regardless of repubican spin. I think Obama should run as her VP myself, they can crush McCain if they take that route, but no matter how dispicable, or how far we have come in race relations, this country will not put a black man in office. Their are too many redneck morons (which is where our last embarassment of a president came from) to let that happen. Put him in as VP, let him prove himself, and then he'll have a real shot in 2016. Be smarter than the republicans people, we need a democrat in office period! Don't let them win another one by not playing it smart....PLEASE!

6. who cares what she "needs to" do? why shouldn't Edwards, Biden, et al. also keep running?
she is just an attention whore at this point, in the same league as Paris Hilton. We have an election to win, not a self-centered, narcisstic, pathologically lying, greedy, manipulative, scheming prima donna to prop up with much ado about nothing whatsoever except for her latest histrionics.

16. I wonder how New Yorkers are digging her act these days
She has another 4 years on her Senate term. I suppose that's plenty of time to get over some things, but it seems to me that some of these wounds run pretty deep. I wonder if she will be chased out of that Senate seat in 2012.

5. She needs to stop.
She is destroying the party with her racist rants...i.e., white people are voting for me and black people are voting for Obama.... Why would anyone vote for anyone strictly because of the color of thier skin?... It sends a tortured message to the centrists those independents that swing elections that the Democrats don't have it all together... Get prepared for the inevitable if they run the country like they run their Primaries we are in a world of hurt.... followed by the Obama has no judegement since he sat in that church listenting to that racist pastor....The GOP is gearing up to isolate the White Christian Conservative bigots and yes their are many of those that claim they are Democrats, such a big tent we built for ourselves...

20. Whether Hillary drops out or not, she is still on the ballot
in West Virginia and Kentucky, and she will win both those states with large margins.

It's much better for Obama if Hillary does NOT drop out until after those two states vote. Obama will be stronger politically if he is defeated by someone who is still competing against him.

I wish all Obama supporters would think rationally about what is best for Obama in the general election instead of just ranting.

Obama is a class act. Try to act the way he does--if you want him to become President, that is.
