LETHBRIDGE, ALTA. - Dar Heatherington, the Lethbridge councillor who made national headlines last year after claiming to have been abducted and sexually assaulted while in Montana, goes on trial Monday on a charge of public mischief.

The charge followed an eighth-month investigation into a separate claim by Heatherington that she was being stalked while in Lethbridge.

Lethbridge Police contend that Heatherington made up the allegations.

Heatherington claimed she received harassing phone calls and sexually explicit letters.

2. OMG

Keeping track of this story over the summer was equal parts comical and sad. I was in the field in northern Montana and we got CKUA public radio from Alberta, and this was a rather major news story :-)

She told a lie. They called her on it. She lied about lying. They called her on that. And then she started yelling.
