1. Same airport
Isn't this the airport with the short runway where last year there was the tragedy with the plane going off the end of the runway?

SAO PAULO, May 20 (Reuters) - Brazilian television network Globo TV changed a report on Tuesday that an airplane had crashed into a building in Sao Paulo, saying the smoke billowing over skyscrapers was caused by a fire.

Local carrier Pantanal Linhas Aereas also denied the report that one of its planes had crashed in the city, South America's largest.

Porém, tanto a empresa aérea quanto a Infraero desmentiram a informação.

Aguarde mais informações.

Not yet it has information on the number of victims. Also it does not have information on the causes of the fire. Nine teams of the Body of Firemen already are in the place. According to firemen who take care of the occurrence, nobody was wounded. In accordance with the corporation, the fire would have started in function of an explosion in the gas system of the establishment. 11. Thanks for the update. A friend of mine worked in Sao Paulo ...
... and she has commented on the insane number of helicopters traversing the city. Evidently all of the hyper-rich use choppers to get around, because traffic in the city is difficult to negotiate. It would not have surprised me to hear that one of these had crashed into the building.

Regardless of the cause, hopefully there are no casualties.

14. That's not why the hyper-rich chopper around Sao Paulo
I heard it was because they're afraid of being carjacked.

Keep it up (i.e. elect McSatan), and we're headed down the same road. :scared:

16. I imagine there is a great deal to that ...
... although my friend only conveyed her thoughts about the traffic scene. IIRC, she used to commute a couple of hours each day, each way, and still finds it refreshing to have a five-ten minute drive to work in the States.

:-)

13. flight
The flight from Congonhas in downtown Sao Paulo to Santos Dumont in downtown Rio is bar none the most scenic and beautiful I've ever taken. Beaches, cliffs, big cities, rain forests; that flight has it all.
