BREAKING NEWS
NBC News and MSNBC
updated 4 minutes ago

Sens. Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton split the Oregon and Kentucky primaries Tuesday night, NBC News projected. Obama proclaimed that he had won “an absolute majority” of elected Democratic delegates and was “within reach” of the Democratic presidential nomination.

Clinton, of New York, coasted to victory in Kentucky, while Obama, of Illinois, handily won in Oregon. The results all but ensured that Obama would claim the largest share of the delegates elected in the long primary and caucus and season.

In an e-mail message to supporters, he said, “We have won an absolute majority of all the delegates chosen by the people in this Democratic primary process.”

And in an address to supporters in Des Moines, Iowa — even before the first returns from Oregon were reported — he made it clear that he thought it was only a matter of time before Clinton was vanquished, proclaiming that “you have put us within reach of the Democratic nomination for president of the United States.”

5. Of course not.
Hillary was supposed to win in Oregon. The fact that Obama beat her by ANY margin is remarkable and it shows that Clinton can't connect with educated voters.

7. I don't agree with that, she ran a tough race
Glad it's finally winding down though, Obama will be able to use her support in his White House bid.

11. I have never seen anything that said
Hillary was expected to win in OR. Anyone who knows the state at all would never have made such a prediction.

12. You just didn't look at the numbers right.
With Hillary vision, everything is a surprise. Remember how she was favored to win in PA and WV and when she did, it was as if it were out of the blue?

8. Oregon does not matter!
Kentucky shows where the nation is today! Clinton has the momentum! She wins the big states! She wins the states we need to win! She's got the support of hard-working Americans, white Americans!

Oh, wait, Obama's sewn up the nomination and all these bullshit talking points don't matter anymore. My bad.

24. And that Obama guy...
has the votes of all those non-white non-hard-working voters. Whites would never, EVER vote for him. But wait a second! Oregon is 90%+ white isn't it? Ooops, my mistake!

14. Obama wins most exciting Ore. primary in 40 years
Source: Associated Press

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Only days after 70,000 people gathered on Portland's waterfront to roar their approval for Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama, the state's voters on Tuesday handed him a resounding victory over Hillary Rodham Clinton in the state's primary election.

It was the most exciting primary this progressive-leaning state has seen in 40 years, and one that drew record participation among Oregon's Democratic voters. A total of 52 convention delegates were at stake in the Oregon primary.

At a raucous Obama victory celebration Tuesday night, Oregon Congressman Earl Blumenauer noted that Clinton and former President Bill Clinton and daughter Chelsea "had practically lived in Oregon for the past month," making dozens of campaign stops.

"This was nothing negative about the Clintons," Blumenauer said of Obama's huge Oregon victory. "It was just people reacting to Barack Obama. People are ready for change, and they understand that Barack Obama is ready to go. He is the guy who can do it, and people in Oregon are ready to help."

18. I don't have stats, but I think you are probably correct
and I think that the significance of the primary may have led to the registration of thousands of more self-identified Democrats who are raring to go in November than if the race had been uncontested.

A vigor exists still in our race that has been absent from the Republican race from the beginning of this cycle.

20. America
under the Obama administration will be something the world has never seen before. Almost difficult to imagine. The country will have invited back into its heart the spirit of cooperation.

I want that future to materialize now.

NOW

for cryin' out loud.
