Sen. Kennedy competing in ’Figawi’ sailboat race
Source: Boston Herald

HYANNIS - Sen. Edward Kennedy felt well enough today after his brain cancer diagnosis to compete in the second day of an annual sailboat race between Nantucket and Cape Cod.

The Massachusetts Democrat and a boatload of supporters took a ferry out of Hyannis to compete in the final half of the so-called "Figawi" race.

A spokeswoman said those joining Kennedy on his sloop "Mya" for the sail home would be his wife, Vicki, sons Edward Jr. and Patrick, and stepdaughter, Caroline Raclin. Sen. Chris Dodd of Connecticut, a close family friend, also was with the group.

Asked why Kennedy took to the seas on Monday, spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter said, "The wind was just right."

9. Thats a good sign.
He is going to fight this thing hard. Not giving up what he loves is a great sign he is taking it in stride & isn't getting down.

I hope he wins BOTH races!

11. You would not believe
the vile jokes that are being told about Ted and his cancer by the right-wingers.

I won't repeat them, but in the last three days, I've had to hang up on both my 91-year-old father and my sister. I couldn't even respond to them.

For the record, the way I hang up on people is to say, "Oh, gee, I've got to go. My ride is here. Bye."

For some reason, people always buy that. I have a car, but no one ever argues with me. I guess people just figure that when your "ride" is there, you have to go right away. You can even interrupt them in mid-sentence, and, this is the best part, they will apologize to you. "Oh, OK, I'm sorry. Bye."
