Barack Obama: McClellan “confirmed what a lot of us have thought for some time”

Posted by Toby Harnden on 29 May 2008 at 02:25
ON BOARD OBAMA ONE. Standing in the aisle of his charter plane en route from Denver to Chicago this evening, Barack Obama was asked by reporters what he thought about the bombshell book by Scott McClellan, former White House press secretary. “The fact that he said it obviously is unusual,” the likely Democratic nominee responded.

“I haven’t read it. I don’t think that the substance is particularly surprising. I think many of us have been troubled by the lack of straightforwardness in this administration. The only news is that somebody within the administration has confirmed what a lot of us have thought for some time.”

1. Is The Telegraph like England's Washington Times or something?
Some of the comments seem like they were taken from Free Republic. :scared:

Thanks for the post - I liked Obama's comment and am glad SOMEBODY reported it!

2. Don't you just love this guy?
His answers to every question are just spot-on! Gosh, to have a President who thinks and is very smart is such a welcome change. I just can't wait!

3. He is one damn smart guy...
...when it counts. They can blather on about this or that "gaffe" (ie: bitter - 57 - uncle - etc.) but goddammit when it COUNTS - he's ON the money. Every time.

4. Exactly!
I'm not so sure his "gaffes" were really gaffes. He was trying to make an important point on some of them and the "57" comment was obviously a reference to the number of primary contests and NOT states...but some like to hang their hat on any little mistake he makes. I say...whatever! He makes so few mistakes, that it's actually entertaining to watch the foes try to spin anything they think is slightly less than acceptable!

12. I think the Auschwitz "gaffe" actually worked in his favor...
First of all, it brought alot of attention to the fact that his grandfather fought in World War II, I honestly don't think we would have ever heard his remarks about this at all if the freeps hadn't gone apoplectic over it.

Second, it made those wingers look awfully stupid for making a big deal about it.

Third, I bet the vast majority of us out there would have made the same mistake in telling that story. Family lore gets bungled over the years. Perfectly understandable.

His grandfather was an honorable man who did an honorable thing, that's the story everybody heard.

9. Anybody hear clinton's take on the whole thing?
Her pal kkkarl rove has come out and trashed mcclellan but I haven't heard any pearls of wisdom from superwoman herself. I guess she's conducting focus groups of hard working white Americans to tell her what she should say.

10. She's probably under the table with Nancy Pelosi...
Both of them are probably wheeling and dealing trade-offs to block any action. Again. The Empress keeps everything off the table. To keep us from looking under the table. But you can't blame Hillary for her silence. It's hard for any of us to speak out against family members.

15. Yeah, Hillary voted for the war (crime) because it was politically expedient, and hundreds of
thousands of Iraqis and thousands of Americans will pay with their lives for her politically expedient vote.
