Sept 11 prosecutors expect criticism over evidence

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. prosecutors preparing to try accused September 11 plotters expect criticism if they seek to use defendants' statements as evidence, because of the abuse of suspects during interrogation. But they say it will not deter them.

A team of federal prosecutors working under military leadership is helping to prepare cases against "high-value" terrorism suspects including five facing charges of participating in the September 11, 2001, attacks.

The cases begin next week with the arraignment of the five at the U.S. Naval Base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

The authorities are mulling whether and how to use the defendants' own words against them, despite accusations that harsh CIA and military interrogations have rendered any information obtained from them unreliable.

1. Torture dod not deter them. Lying to the American public to start an illegal invasion and occupation
did not deter them. Why do you think a simple thing like a coerced confession would deter them?
Silly rabbit ethics are for humans.

2. McCain's coerced confessions in Vietnam
show that "enhanced interrogation" techniques produce garbage.

Either that or McCain hates America. Repubs need to decide.

5. I think you've hit on the very reason they're sweating this trial right now
It has great potential to not only bring their torture to the forefront at a time when McCain is going have his in the spotlight, but it also brings up some questions that may be difficult for them to spin.

8. Bush/Cheney?
Good thing they caught those nasty terrorist. And why would a "Gulp" of water cause you to confess?
Lord knows we all might have watched videos and read stories from people who were REALLY there and got their silly stories of explosions and the basement gutted. It's amazing how those terrorist got a hold of blueprints for the WTC to be able to wire the buildings as well as fly planes into the buildings. Fooling NORAD for over 45 minutes by turning off the tracking device. Very clever. Next they will be responsible for the theft of 2.3 Trillion dollars from the Pentagon on 9/10/01.
