Each-way gambler Murdoch is backing Bush to the max
Rupert Murdoch, his wife, Wendi, and his son Lachlan, are backing President George Bush's campaign for re-election in November. But three years ago Rupert Murdoch gave financial support to the man who could be Mr Bush's rival, John Kerry.

Documents lodged with the Federal Election Commission show that Mr Murdoch gave the maximum $US2000 ($2600) contribution to the campaign of Mr Bush and his running mate, Dick Cheney, on June 27 last year. Wendi, Mr Murdoch's third wife, whose occupation was listed on the documents as homemaker, gave the same amount on the same day. So did Lachlan.

Lachlan made the maximum contribution of $US2000, also on June 27.

The documents also show that Mr Murdoch's other son, James, makes financial contributions to the Democrats.

In 2000 James made two separate contributions of $US1000 each to Al Gore's campaign for the White House. Rupert Murdoch is listed as making a $US2000 contribution to Senator Kerry's campaign for the Senate.

He was elected, and is now trying to win the nomination from the Democrats to run against Mr Bush. Mr Murdoch made a $US1000 contribution to Senator Edward Kennedy, when he stood for re-election to the Senate in 1999. He also supported the former mayor of New York, Rudi Giuliani, in his aborted Senate campaign.

3. $2K cash to Bush... and $100 million in slanted coverage
And how quick they pounced on Dean when he said on Tweety in December that he would consider breaking up media empires.
