Obama could raise $100 million in June, fundraisers say
Source: The Hill

Leading Democratic fundraisers predict that Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) will raise hundreds of millions of dollars over the next few months if he opts out of public financing and begins raising money for the general election.

Specifically, they say Obama could raise $100 million in June and could attract 2.5 million to 3 million new donors to his campaign.

These fundraisers say Obama could increase his fundraising dramatically because of three factors: a boost of enthusiasm among Obama donors following his clinching of the nomination; the migration of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s (D-N.Y.) donors to his camp; and the mobilization of big Democratic donors who have given little so far this year.

Record-breaking projections give Obama strong incentive to pass up $85 million in public funds that his opponent, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), has said he would accept.

<snip>

Alan Kessler, who served as one of Clinton’s national finance co-chairmen, said that Obama’s record-breaking fundraising has left little doubt that he could raise $100 million in a single month, a total that would have been considered impossible a few years ago.

5. Did you miss the repeated word "could"?
Why aren't they giving the numbers that are pouring in?

Oh, wait, because the Hillary donors are hanging back to see if they'll be insulted or welcomed. So far, no welcome.

10. Billary Lost, Aquart!
You're like a street punk who just can't get that chip off your shoulder. I'm sure the campaign would be quite welcoming of your donation. It's the people on DU who can't stand your incessant crybaby temper tantrums and inability to accept reality. Listen to Lynn Samuels much?

11. Because it's not required and would be meaningless at this point
The numbers will be released when they're ready and I'm sure you'll be seriously disappointed when Obama meets the goal.

3. 2004 109 million people voted on both sides
so far this year

Dems of got 40 to 45 million votes

Repugs got 20 million

there are at least 40 million people who did not partipate in the primaries

My question, if Obama loses 22% of Hillary Voters, isn't he still in a great Position to pick up most of the remaining 40 million or so who will vote this year

also I think their will be a huge number of African Americans who have never voted before come out and vote.

4. Just out of curiousity, what led you to use the number
22% in relation to Hillary voters?

12. The problem is at least two fold. How many voters were Operation Chaos,
how many voters voted Republican but lied to the pollsters, and how many were actually Clinton supporters caught up in the moment but who will vote Democratic in the GE?

It's almost impossible to say.

14. Great point. It explains Hillary's $30 million debt
She supposedly receives 18 million votes but no money? It doesn't make sense. Not unless the Ann Coulterguists of the world voted for Hillary. It explains discrepency between GOP voter turnout and national Obama vs McCain polls.

I donated $250 on 06/0 becasue I wanted to "SEND A MESSAGE". I had a hunch others would also.

I'm lucky that I can afford it. I really admire those who donate their time. My job sucks the life out of me so when I am off work I can barely relax. At least that's my excuse.

9. He'll Have To Raise A Lot More Than That, EVERY Month, to Counter the Mighty Slime Machine
The Repigs don't need to raise any money. They Have the Mighty Slime Machine!
We need to raise lots and lots and lots and lots of money to hope to counter it.

We have to pay around a million dollars a minute to get on the air.
The Repiggies get most of their airtime for FREE.
$100 million = 100 minutes.
The Repiggies get more airtime than that for free every week, from every network.

13. Sounds good to me!
And for once, I don't CARE how much money is involved! I want McAss to keep his little 85 million, and I want Obama to be absolutely up to his eyeballs in money. I don't care if it isn't "fair" to McLame... I want Obama to pulverize him! I hope Obama outraises the entire RNC! Grrrrrrrrr
