Congress enacts farm bill over Bush veto, again

By MARY CLARE JALONICK
The Associated Press
Wednesday, June 18, 2008; 6:21 PM

WASHINGTON -- Congress enacted a massive $290 billion farm bill
for a second time on Wednesday after a clerical error in the first
bill threatened delivery of U.S. food aid abroad.

The Senate voted 80-14 to override President Bush's veto of the
legislation, more than the two-thirds majority necessary to enact
it. Bush vetoed the bill for a second time earlier Wednesday, and
the House voted 317-109 to override it a few hours later.

Most of the bill was enacted in May, when both the House and
Senate easily overrode Bush's first veto of the legislation. But
34 pages of the bill that would extend foreign aid programs were
mistakenly missing from the parchment copy Congress sent to the
White House, so that section did not become law.

3. does anyone know if this is the same farm bill that had the provision
to close the "enron loophole" in it? I've just been listening to KO talking about the whole enron loophole issue and it's effect on our oil and gas pricing, including a senate hearing where several experts explained to Congress that the closing of the loophole would drop the price of a barrel of oil by 25% minimum some speculate as much as 50% and that the farm bill had this closure included in it.

Is this that farm bill?!!!!

Anyone??????

5. Yes
That is why McCain voted against it and Bush vetoed it. And
said it's pork spending(their little buzz word). The World
Trade Organization is pulling their strings and are not happy
with the legislation.

6. So now that the Enron loophole is closed
can the price of gas start to fall? What has to be done to enact the closing of the loophole?
