The Johnson County Board of Supervisors on Wednesday warned area residents about impersonators trying to benefit from the troubles of flood evacuees.
The supervisors had learned of three or four cases of scam artists attempting to take advantage of Johnson County flood victims. At least one of these reports was made in person.
So far, no one has fallen for the bait.
"Tragedy brings out the very best and very worst of people," said Rod Sullivan, the supervisors' chairman.

So it looks like with FEMA noticeably absent from many areas in Iowa, many scam artists are taking advantage of this and trying to jump in instead. Somehow though, I don't think they will be as honorable as Robert DeNiro was as the 'fake plumber" was in Brazil!
