FBI 'to probe Swiss bank UBS' in tax dodging case
Source: AFP

GENEVA (AFP) - The US Federal Bureau of Investigation has made a formal request to travel to Switzerland to probe a multi-million-dollar tax evasion case involving top Swiss bank UBS, a news report said Sunday.

The move follows the confession of former UBS banker Bradley Birkenfeld to a Florida court last week that he conspired to help wealthy American clients dodge millions of dollars in taxes.

Swiss officials from the justice and finance ministries have already travelled to Washington for talks with their US counterparts amid fears the case could damage the overall reputation of Switzerland's financial sector.

The New York Times reported that the case could involve some 20,000 US citizens.

2. Nothing to see here is actually a matter of Swiss banking law.
It's illegal for a Swiss bank to tell anyone that you have an account with them. That even includes you. If you lose your account number. Your money is forever lost.

3. Offshore oil drilling?
I wish Obama's response to opening offshore oil drilling would be closing offshore money hiding.

It even boasts of having McCain's Chief Lobbyist, Phil Graham, on its Board.

Dirty, dirty, dirty.

7. I knew it was a good while ago.
A good friend of mine left a very lucrative position with UBS Warburg in the early 2000's. He said he could no longer be involved with a company so ethically bereft.

He saw the handwriting on the wall.
