China 'is fuelling war in Darfur'
Source: BBC

The BBC has found the first evidence that China is currently helping Sudan's government militarily in Darfur.

The Panorama TV programme tracked down Chinese army lorries in the Sudanese province that came from a batch exported from China to Sudan in 2005.

The BBC was also told that China was training fighter pilots who fly Chinese A5 Fantan fighter jets in Darfur.

China's government has declined to comment on the BBC's findings, which contravene a UN arms embargo on Darfur.

1. Meh.
Not like it's something the US hasn't done before or is probably even doing today.

2. Please America Wake Up
Right now we have to form mutual aid pacts with one another, and slowly work our way out of our economic morasse, and guess what? The Peoples Republic of China, which is neither, is fueling war in the Sudan. Oh imagine China buying all that access to Africa. It has happened. The Idiot hurt us in many ways. One being that China looks better than the US to the African Fascists. So the Chinese Fascists are gobbling up influence with the Fascists in Africa, instead of the US. Buying Chinese Weapons, instead of US weapons. This is insanity. I wish that the US were the good guys, and not just an handfull of greedy, fearful, liers, and murderers who know how to rig elections, and get shills into office under the Banners of Republican, and Democrat.

6. African fascists are "Buying Chinese Weapons, instead of US weapons" ? You an arms dealer?
You've been undercut by the "developing nation" of China.

For the price of one US rifle, the fascists can by 15 Chinese made rifles.Or better yet, trade oil for guns. They let the Chinese come in and do all the grunt work

while the fascists live in opulent splendor

8. Simplify..
China is breaking an arms embargo and selling weapons to a genocidal government. The president of sudan is just about to be indicted for war crimes.

String theory is great in the quantum world, sometimes in the real world events take place that are not all related.

5. The UN is in China's back pocket as the recent vote indicates
Edited on Sun Jul-13-08 08:40 AM by ohio2007

.....

The rebels filmed a second lorry with the BBC's camera. Both vehicles had been carrying anti-aircraft guns, one a Chinese gun.

Markings showed that they were from a batch of 212 Dong Feng army lorries that the UN had traced as having arrived in Sudan after the arms embargo was put in place.

The lorries came straight from the factory in China to Sudan and were consigned to Sudan's defence ministry. The guns were mounted after the lorries were imported from China.

The UN started looking for these lorries in Darfur three years ago, suspecting they had been sent there, but never found them.

11. Wrong..
100,000 is the number from IBC. Darfur estimates are around the same, conservative.

Removing the political aspects of the war in Iraq and Darfur they are very different in nature.

Darfur is a genocide.

Goddamn bush string theory here is insane. Sometimes fucked up shit is just that, fucked up. It does not and should not be Bush interleaved unless there is a real reason.

Darfur is wrong, the slack attitude taken by the world is wrong.

12. Yet another reason why we have to get off of oil
So we can get out of the supporting tyrannical dictators game and become a force of good in the world for once. We're not much better than China, though the situation in Sudan is different than the one in Iraq.

What's Obama going to do about it?
