Controversial Obama ad upsets Hilton's granddad
Source: Sydney Morning Herald

AN ATTEMPT by the Republican nominee, John McCain, to depict his rival Barack Obama as a shallow, publicity-seeking celebrity, little better than Paris Hilton or Britney Spears, has triggered a storm of criticism from commentators and outrage from an unusual quarter: Hilton's grandfather.

According to reports, the McCain campaign office received a furious phone call from William Barron Hilton (co-chairman of the Hilton Hotel empire), who took issue with the comparison between Senator Obama and his granddaughter.

Donor records show William Hilton has given $US18,400 ($19,420) to the McCain campaign and $US35,000 to the National Republican Senatorial Committee in the past two years. Paris Hilton's father, Rick Hilton, has given $US6,900 to the McCain campaign.

5. LA Times is saying they heard Hilton family is rather unhappy
Edited on Fri Aug-01-08 10:33 AM by sabra
not sure where they heard this though...

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2008/07/paris-hilton-mc.html

Just a short quick update on this crucial Paris Hilton political business so that the half of the globe now in darkness can go to bed in peace and the light of wisdom. And we can all get onNaked Paris with Friday come daylight.

Late word Thursday night -- not surprising but late nonetheless -- that the Hilton family is rather unhappy with the campaign of Sen. John McCain for including its scion, P.H., in its controversial and therefore successful political campaign ad somehow attempting to link two famous or infamous female celebrities (Britney Spears is the other) with a certain Democratic presidential nominee-to-be.

15. They got the story from the same right-wing bloger.
One I'm not familiar with, but who is called "a hoax" by a poster at Shakesville.

LA Times: "according to Martin Eisenstadt's blog,"

http://shakespearessister.blogspot.com/2008/06/abrad2345-releases-latest-video-as-hoax.html

William K Wolfrum writes, "Martin Eisenstadt is a hoax."

This is the Sidney Morning Herald's fault, not the person who posted this.

9. Sorry, Bill; family problems are at your feet.
If you never wanted the name of Hilton to be dragged through the mud, you should have ensured the people who bear the name won't do so.

There is one thing and one thing only that he can do, and that is withdraw his support of McCain and endorse Obama.

The Hiltons, I think asked for what they got. Who could be surprised at what McBush really is. The guy is corrupt. He lies. He's full of it. Just like the thug in the White House.

Your granddaughter can be the Slut of the Month, flash her coochie in public, go to jail for drunk driving, and be tabloid fodder and you say nothing. But let her image be used in a commercial with a black guy and a Democrat, and Grandpa gets upset!
