Anti-war protesters target Bush in Maine
Source: Associated Press

By DAVID SHARP
Article Date: Sunday, August 3, 2008

KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine - The scene played out Saturday for what could be the last time: a sitting president visited Walker's Point, tourists held out hope of getting a glimpse of the president, and a group of noisy protesters paraded through the heart of town.

President Bush kept a low profile as 50 to 60 anti-war demonstrators marched to a police checkpoint less than a half-mile from his parents' seaside home. The group chanted "Hands off Iran!" and "Jail to the Chief!" as tourists in this seaside community paused to gawk.

Within sight of Walker's Point, peace activist Laurie Dobson called for a moment of silence "for all the people this man has killed in his two terms in office." Then Carlos Arredondo spoke of the loss of his son, Marine Lance Cpl. Alexander Arredondo, who was killed in Iraq on Aug. 25, 2004.

Then the group turned away ...

1. Back in '92 we had our last family trip over there...
We toured New England and in Kennebunkport we could see the Bush bunker.I was 25 and I could feel the Evil leaking from that place. :scared:

2. I hope Bush gets heckled and booed for the rest of his days
He deserves it. Will he be able to keep protesters that far away after he leaves office, i wonder.

6. yes! let's make him as miserable as he has made us!
but at least i know that no matter what happens here and now.... there will come a day when bush and cheney, and all their cohorts will pay for what they've done. like the story by edgar alan poe... when the man kills his wife and stashes her under the floor. and he keeps hearing a heartbeat.... we all have to face ourselves eventually.

7. I think this is what he's referring to
http://www.insidehighered.com/news/2006/08/22/animal

Colleagues suggested that Ringach, who did not return e-mails seeking comment, was spooked by an attack on a colleague. In June, the Animal Liberation Front took credit for trying to put a Molotov cocktail on the doorstep of Lynn Fairbanks, another UCLA researcher who does experimentation on animals. The explosive was accidentally placed on the doorstep of Fairbanks’s elderly neighbor’s house, and did not detonate.

And my point was that bu$h could eat babies in the rose garden, but unless he sets Barney on fire he'll probably never face justice.

9. I wish I had known about the protest because I would have
been there. My husband and I went to the anti-war protest in Kennebunkport last August. It was awesome!! There were about 5,000 of us and not one arrest.

I listened to Bugliosi today on Book TV. (I'm also reading his book). I loved what he said that bush will always be wondering when some prosecutor will hand him a warrant for his arrest for murder. (Any prosecutor from the 50 states can do it). It took 33 years before Pinochet was condemned for his crimes. I hope I'm around to see it.

10. It brings back fond memories of visiting Kennebunkport
I'll never forget being there in '92 in a shop where a little girl pointed at a postcard of the Bush compound and said "That's where the president lives." The shop keeper in a voice like that of the bar maid in "'Non-Sequiter" comics said "He lives in Texas!!"

They don't like them there either.

BTW you never hear of the Walkers. WTF are they??
