Former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle (D-S.D.) ...., who appeared on Fox News Sunday said it is “unfortunate” that he has not been briefed on the latest developments in the case ...

“I think all of us, not only those of us directly affected, but all of us need to know more than we do today,” Daschle said.

“I mean, from the very beginning, I’ve had real concerns about the quality of the investigation,” he stated, adding, “The fact that they already paid somebody else $5 million for the mistakes they must have made gives you some indication of the overall caliber and quality of the investigation” ...

Daschle criticizes FBI's handling of anthrax probe

WASHINGTON (AP) — Former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, whose office was a target of the anthrax attacks in 2001, said Sunday the suicide of the government's main suspect does not mean the case is over ...

Five people died and 17 others were sickened when anthrax-laced letters began showing up at congressional offices, newsrooms and post offices soon after Sept. 11, 2001.

The case re-emerged in the news this past week as investigators prepared to charge a government scientist Bruce Ivins in the case. Ivins died Tuesday in what has been ruled a suicide ...

<Daschle> said he did not know if the investigation involving Ivins "is just another false track and a real diversion of where they need to be. We don't know and they aren't telling us."

2. It does seem convenient that the suspect committs suicide
right before the criminals leave office doesn't it? Let's see how many other loose ends get wrapped up in the next 5 months.

13. Why was he released?
There was ample evidence that he was a threat to others and to himself. They wanted him dead.

6. Steven Hatfill
"He also raised questions about the quality of the investigation, noting that the government recently paid out almost $6 million to a former Army scientist, Steven Hatfill, who accused authorities of unfairly targeting him in the anthrax case."

16. kpete reported here that the New York Times scrubbed an article while he was reading it!
In the time it took to click from page one to page two of the article, half the details in the online article disappeared.

They're really getting very blatant.

8. And the timing is critical too - the settlement (end of appeals) with Hatfill
came just a few weeks ago (late June?) and the closing-in on Ivins accelerated after that.

11. He's obviously had enough of the b.s. I take him extremely seriously.

He was a victim. He's not buying it, I'm finding it hard to give much credibility to it either.

""is just another false track and a real diversion of where they need to be." Tom's kicking a little.
I like it.

17. I think we're all owed more of an explanation about this.
The anthrax attacks were used as one of the excuses to invade Iraq and now we learn that they've suspected this guy since 2002? That's since before the invasion.
