Joel Osteen's Wife Faces Trial For Alleged Assault

HOUSTON (AP) ― She's the wife of a renowned evangelical pastor and one of the leaders of a Houston megachurch, but Victoria Osteen is being accused of behavior that wasn't very Christian.

Opening arguments were set for Thursday in a civil lawsuit that accuses Victoria Osteen of assaulting Continental Airlines flight attendant Sharon Brown before the start of a 2005 flight from Houston to Vail, Colo.

Brown alleges Victoria Osteen threw her against a bathroom door and elbowed her in the left breast during an outburst over a stain on her first-class seat. The Federal Aviation Administration fined Victoria Osteen $3,000 for interfering with a crew member.

Victoria Osteen "clearly was angry on this flight," McKamie said.

Brown wants an apology and punitive damages amounting to 10 percent of Victoria Osteen's net worth as part of her suit.

You have to be kidding me! She wants 10% of her net worth because she has anxiety and hemorroids. I guess I don't hate Victoria Osteen enough because I think this lawsuit is ridiculous.

I didn't know rich people flew Continental Airlines, myself. I'd charter a jet or something.

but it's clear Osteen should have been ejected from the flight and charged with simple assault but wasn't because she was a fat cat in first class.

I'm still glad the silly cow's sense of entitlement is being exposed, a hissy fit because her seat was less than perfect--a stain! Stop the plane!

The lawsuit will go noplace, of course. It's frivolous.

She should be able to sue for for more than that, if this is truly a christian nation. This woman damaged her probability of going to heaven. Let's do the math:

Obviously the value of eternal life in paradise has infinite value. If this incident damaged her probability of making it to heaven by even 1 in 1,000,000,000,000,000 (one in one quadrillion!) that would mean:

Infinity * .000000000000001 = Infinity

The damage she undeniably suffered due to Ms. Osteen's assault is, therefore, infinite. No matter how small the probability this woman will miss out on paradise due to Ms. Osteen's actions, she should still be able to sue for incalculably large damages. Infinite damages, though the courts will have to put some sort of reasonable ceiling on it. Say, for example, one trillion dollars. Though that would be a paltry sum compared to the damage she has suffered.

I scoff at your cap, I think 600 billion trillion dollars might send a message.

But maybe something like cash damages totaling $3↑↑↑3 would be more symbolically appropriate.
