White House press corps plane detained in China

There's no special treatment in China for the White House press corps.

The charter jet carrying about 40 reporters was detained for nearly three hours Friday at Beijing's international airport not long after President Bush arrived for the Olympics.

The flight crew had been expecting to park at a VIP terminal, but was instead directed to a normal international gate. White House officials will say only there were "logistical problems" getting clearance to unload the aircraft. The flight crew was told the Chinese were insisting that all luggage be inspected.

Typically reporters, photographers and camera crews are able to get off the press plane as soon as it lands.

How well did our people learn the Chinese how-to-torture book, I wonder. Let's compare, since it's all legal now to torture people.

It's a scream to listen to Bush** preach to the Chinese gov't about human rights abuses and religious freedoms when he and his entire cabal share their own special narrow view of these things. If we could banish them all to the Forbidden City they might eventually discover how very closely related they really are.

(with the exception of Helen Thomas, of course)
