MoveOn protest targets Rep. Drake, oil industry (Virginia)

Local members of MoveOn.org, a national liberal political group, staged a protest in front of Rep. Thelma Drake's district office Thursday, accusing the congresswoman and Republicans of being too cozy with oil companies.

"Drake is working to help big oil companies, not voters like ourselves," said Joseph Filipowski, a local MoveOn member.

Seven people holding signs that read "GOP: Grand Oil Party " said the country needs to focus more on "renewable energy" instead of drilling for more oil. They presented the congresswoman with a petition signed by about 300 members.

"Drake's district staff welcomes protesters... to discuss Drake's position on comprehensive energy solutions," said Travis Burk, the congresswoman's spokesman, in an e-mail.

she's done that in the past. I'm sorry I could not go, but I had a schedule conflict. Thanks for going, although I doubt it will even register with that witch. I've sent countless petitions to her, only to get form letters that totally disagree with my political views. I know it's a waste of time, but there is hope that one day she will see the light, but I highly doubt it.
