Georgia unemployment rates rose to 6.2 percent in July — the highest in 15 years — as job cutbacks in manufacturing and other blue-collar sectors gained speed across the state.

The Georgia Department of Labor says the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate represents an increase of six-tenths of 1 percent from 5.6 percent in June.

Georgia lost some 46,600 payroll jobs from June to July. Initial unemployment insurance claims rose by 30 percent in July, to 59,165.

About 304,536 Georgians are out of work.

Good! We deserve it for electing GOP toesuckers like Sonny Perdue, Saxby Chambliss and Johnny Isakson.

Not to mention the one who's toes they suck, George W. Bush.

2. You know, the first thing I thought when I saw this...
"They're getting invaded by Russia and people are worried about unemployment? WTF" - then I read the article.

Of course, what makes this even more pathetic is that I LIVE in the state of Georgia.

4. Not a surprise....
I am no fan of Hotlanta having lived there for about 6 months. 20$ cover for clubs in buckhead? Home of Michael Vick's beloved Falcons. Good riddance to that city.

6. I blame Cathy Cox
She just had to have Diebold machines in 2002! We just had to be amongst the first in the nation to have the voting machines.

Therefore, we were amongst the first in the nation to have elections stolen from us - the Democrats - to put those slimeball weasels into office. You can rant and rave about Sackofshit Shameless if you want, but the more insidious of the deal was putting ol' SonnyBubba in there.

I said the other day and I'll say it again, the Jewel of the South turned to shit real quick after these assholes stole the prize.

7. Georgia went from being the most progressive and economically vital Southern state
to its current sad state of political, economic, social and environmental affairs right after the stolen 2002 elections.

Cathy Cox should be ashamed of her actions. I hold her personally responsible for the stolen 2002 elections and the ruination of our once great state.

:hi: I hope that you and Mr. Ruby and (not so baby anymore) Carter are doing well! :hi:

8. When I was touring with rock bands...
Georgia used to be one of the places we couldn't wait to get to. Great people, great fun, just so much going for it.

10. We still have great people and places! Come on down to Athens, GA for great music anytime!
Edited on Thu Aug-14-08 06:42 PM by CottonBear
Athens rocks! I love this town! My boyfriend and many, many of my friends are musicians! (I have zero musical talent but somebody has to be in the audience!)

What kind of band were you touring with? Did you ever come to Athens?

11. You name it, I toured with it.
Lotsa bigguns too. Real bigguns. Yes, I have been to Athens, it's another world in the middle of Georgia. Played that real famous club down there with a band called "The Judybats". Yeah, we had some of those famous Athens musicians there too: Mitch(Who I worked with when I was with Marshall Crenshaw), Peter, Michael...
