(Washington) Primary results set stage for rematches
Edited on Tue Aug-19-08 11:42 PM by brooklynite
Source: Seattle Times

Today's primary results confirm that some of Washington's highest-profile races in November will be rematches from two and four years ago.

Gov. Christine Gregoire, a Democrat, will again face Republican challenger Dino Rossi this fall. Rossi lost to Gregoire by just 133 votes after two recounts in the hotly disputed 2004 gubernatorial election. The rivals already have raised a combined $16 million for their rematch — surpassing their $14 million total from four years ago.

In very early statewide returns, Gregoire had a slight lead over Rossi.

In another rematch, Republican Congressman Dave Reichert will again face Democratic challenger Darcy Burner in the Eastside's 8th Congressional District. The two were running neck and neck in early primary returns.

1. Amazing that the pubs still get this many votes!
After 8 years of Republican misrule, we have someone like Dino Rossi who can still manage to get even close to Gregoire is just astounding and disappointing.

2. Rossi is the worst
of the worst. I'm going to be spending my time making sure he doesn't steal this election, because he will if he can.
