Congressman Seeks to Replace Wife on Ballot (Rob Andrews NJ-1)
Source: New York Times

Just when they thought he was out, Robert E. Andrews pulled himself back in.

Mr. Andrews, the New Jersey congressman who declined a re-election bid last spring to mount a challenge to Senator Frank R. Lautenberg in the Democratic primary — an effort that ultimately failed — abruptly announced on Thursday that he would try to hold onto his House seat after all.

At the same time, Mr. Andrews’s wife, Camille — who in June won a primary to replace Mr. Andrews in New Jersey’s First Congressional District — gave word on Thursday that she, too, was having second thoughts. Mr. Andrews said in a statement that his wife had taken her name from the ballot for his seat. Benjamin Parvey, Mrs. Andrews’s campaign manager, confirmed Thursday night that she had done so.

That clears the way for Mr. Andrews to get back on the ballot as the Democratic candidate, just in time for November’s general election. The Republican candidate is Dale M. Glading.

If the overall stakes weren't so critical, I think I'd be inclined to take a loss on this race, just to teach him a lesson.

1. The only sad thing is that
Andrews didn't beat that DINO Frank Lautenberg in the Senate primary. I'm glad we're not going to lose him after all.

4. No, I didn't.

There wasn't a single war authorization bill he didn't love. He voted to extend PATRIOT ACT. He has consistently voted against biofuels and other alternative energy sources. He voted FOR the Military Commissions Act. He refused to filibuster Alito and Roberts. He voted against the reimportation of prescription drugs.

The man is a disgrace. My local Democratic Committee isn't even endorsing him for re-election, and I don't see where there would be much difference if he DID lose in November and a moderate Republican took his place.

and Bush foreign policy. Andrews? not so much. And while Lautenberg did vote to extend the patriot act guess what? so did Andrews!
I have no problem with Andrews, he's a good man. I was actually hoping he was going to get Corzines seat.
But to call Lautenberg a dino and a disgrace is just out to lunch and suggests you're still munching some sour grapes over Robs overwhelming primary loss to him. He is widely acknowledged as one of the most liberal Senators, hardly a dino.

edited for typo

6. If he's so damn anti-war
then why has he always voted to continue funding Bush's war?

The sooner that man is out of the Senate the better our state and our nation will be.

I don't have time to go googling but I'm sure they both supported proposed Dem amendments to put in restrictions and tie-in withdrawal timelines. But in the end, they had to do what they had to do to assure that the actual men and women in the field get what they need.

But who needs a pissing match over a primary anyway? We should be thankful we're from New Jersey and don't have to apologize for congress critters like Brownback,Lieberman,Inhofe, Bachmann etc like so many others do.

And you are extra lucky because you know you get to have Rob Andrews back. Here in the 3rd there's alot of work to do to make sure Saxton doesn't get replaced with another 'independent bi-partisan'. (The fuck never dared mentioned he was a repub in 2004 & 2006).
